Now that I shared with you how I united the two rooms to make them feel like one, come tour the bathroom with me.  Like the master bedroom, the bathroom should be a secluded place where you can rest and relax.  We spend every morning and end the night in this room so this room shouldn’t be forgotten when decorating your home.

Let’s take a look back once more at the bedroom where you can see my inspirational bedding that I brought into the bathroom to give the two spaces that flow I’ve been talking about.

This is the view when glancing into the bathroom from our bedroom.

You are standing at the doorway of the master bathroom.

Straight from the door you will head to my husband’s vanity area.  We have split vanities, it is so nice to have separate areas for the mornings when we both are getting ready at the same time.  Which isn’t too often, but when we do it’s REALLY nice.

The cabinets in this room have an American Oak finish. We have the same cabinetry throughout the home.  I have painted just a few in other parts of our home. (You will see which ones I have painted when we tour the rest of the home).  The vanity tops are white cultured marble.  I removed the classic contractor grade wall mirror and replaced it with framed mirrors that I purchased from Kirkland’s.

On top of his vanity there is a basket filled with all of his daily toiletries. Place next to the basket, there is a white ceramic cup like container that he places his razors and in front of the basket is a small decorative bowl to place his eye drops and chapstick to keep them in their place.  He has a soap dispenser on the other side of the sink.

Next is the center window on the exterior back wall.  I decided not to place a curtain on the window.  The window brings in natural lighting when opened and when closed it provides privacy.  I placed two shadow flower box framed art on each side of the window.  The framed art fills in the empty space between the vanity mirrors and window.  I placed towel rings with white monogrammed hand towels on each side of the window also.

Under the window is the garden tub.  The tub has a built in look and is one step off the floor.  On each side of the tub there is a half wall, both walls have decorative wood trim going all the way down to the floor. The backsplash surrounding the tub is a decorative tile that matches the floor tile.  We also put a piece of trim at the top edge of the backsplash to keep the look complete.  I had a jacuzzi tub once and was forever trying to keep the jets clean.  When we built this house I made sure that the tub was without jets.  I love my garden tub, it is still a little difficult to clean because it’s so deep.  I almost have to crawl into it to clean it.

Here is the wall setting on each side of the window.  I love the monogram towels.  I purchased the white towels and had a T monogrammed on them along with the towel set I showed you earlier.

I placed two silver and brown mercury glass pillar candle holders on each side of the tub in the back corners.  I added white battery operated candles on them.  I purchased the candle holders from Kirkland’s.

On the far side I placed a apothecary jar filled with bath salt.

Next up is my side of the bathroom.  I am so excited to show you my vanity space.  I know I say this often about all of my rooms, but I love this space. The only thing that I wish is, that when we designed the bathroom we would of spread the area between the cabinet and half wall out a little farther.  It is a little tight. But it is what it is and I love it regardless.  You can never find the “perfect” space even when you build your own home.

In the corner of my vanity I placed a soap dispenser, an arrangement of flowering willow branches, 3 apothecary canisters, candle and a decorative bar of soap.  Here is a re-purpose project.  The apothecary jars were repainted white with a touch of bronze.  They once were all bronze. They hold cotton balls, Q-tips and bars of white soap, they serve two purposes. One, of course decorative pieces and two they are functional.  The flower vase was once gold and I painted it white, tied a couple of Christmas ornaments around the neck of it and placed willow branches inside the vase.

I wanted some sort of flower arrangement but didn’t want flowers.  I love the look of the willow branches, it has the white and brown with a little pop of green.  The wrapped bar of soap was a gift I received for a hostess gift.  I love the little touch of purple in the room.

My vanity part where I sit and do all my makeup and hair is pretty clean.  I keep all my products in the drawers and cabinets.  I do keep my makeup brushes and bobby pins out.  The bobby pins stay in the little silver glass box and my brushes are kept in this little container that I found at the Dollar Tree and of course my makeup mirror sits in the corner when I am not using it.  I will go through my drawers in a different post but for now I will show you my vanity area.   Don’t pay attention to the lady in the mirror.  ha!

I place all my makeup in the first drawer to my left.  I took butter containers from the Dollar Tree took the bottom part off and turn the butter container upside down and used them to hold all of my makeup in.  They keep the drawer and myself very organized.  And if you are asking me why so much makeup?  I just buy it when I find it at a good price.  TjMaxx has some really good deals on name brand makeup.  A lot less than if you were to buy it at Ulta.

One more look at my beautiful vanity area.

Now turning around from my space is the toilet area.  The shower wall hides the toilet from view when you walk into the room.  It isn’t a separate room but it is hidden away.  The towel wall I placed a wall clock, towel holder and on the floor a little trunk that holds extra toilet paper and my radio.  I love to listen to the radio while getting ready.  I know….I am old school.  I could just use my phone and listen to Pandora, but I like listening to our local radio station.

In the corner I have a three tier corner shelf.

Let’s look at each shelf separately.

First shelf I have another silver and brown mercury glass candle holder with a topiary, next to that I have a lace canister that holds a battery operated candle inside.

The middle shelf; I placed a flower arrangement of white flowers and a little distressed white bird.

The bottom shelf;  has a lantern with a little succulent plant inside.

Above the toilet I placed a neutral framed art.

Last but not least is the shower.  I would of love to rip this out and tile this whole section and do a walk in shower, but my husband put his foot down.  NO!  It isn’t bad at all I just WISHED.  A girl has a wish list that just keeps getting longer and longer!

It use to have a brass trimmed out door.  Here is what it use to look like.

You know me and how much I love to paint.  I (yes all by this little girl’s self) took the shower door section apart.  Sanded it, cleaned it and had my husband do the spray painting.  I tend to get too nervous on big jobs with spray paint.  The steps I took were very easy but time consuming.  You sanded, cleaned, primed, first coat was a copper color, sanded lightly, then two coats of oil rubbed bronze (sanding between each coat), sanded and sprayed a clear top coat.  That was back in 2012 (as you can see the year on the photo) and as of today it is still holding strong.

Here is the picture of our shower today.   Along the corners are trimmed out to look like wall pillars.  The trim work gives it a more formal look.
