CLEVER LITTLE CLIP FOR MY SUMMER PORCH

Welcome to our summer porch!  What a wonderful way to kick start my summer than cleaning our front porch for the season.  Now that the pollen has went away I jumped up and got started cleaning and decorating.

I am excited to be joining several of my blogging friends with the Spring into Summer Blog Hop, hosted by Amber over at Follow the Yellow Brick Home. If you are coming over from Welch House 1900, welcome to Decorate & More with Tip! Larissa gave us so much inspiration!  At the bottom of my page you will find all of my friends blog links, I made it easy for you to click on each one to see what they have waiting for you!

Here is our front porch.  You have seen this many of times.  As you can see we don’t have much floor space.  This year I thought maybe I will decorate the brick wall!  Yep, that’s what I am going to do.

BUT….Mr. Tip didn’t want me drilling any holes in the brick.  Hmmmm.   Now I will have to figure out what I can use.  I started looking around and found the perfect solution!

Today I share my solution to attach décor to brick without drilling.  Have you ever heard of Brick Fastener or Brick Clips?  These little things grab onto the brick with tension. No drilling at all.  I purchased mine several years ago to hang my Christmas garland around our door way.  They are made of steel and come in 3 different sizes.

Here is how I apply the fastener to my brick.  I place the two clips between the bricks and push up and in to clip the teeth over and onto the top of the brick.  It fits firmly to the brick without damaging the brick.  It says it can hold up to 25 pounds.

Now let’s see if it will work hanging my décor piece  on the wall.  The frame I am placing on the wall has sawtooth picture hangers on the back.

I measured on the brick where the two sawtooth hangers would be and place both brick fasteners onto the brick..

I attached the sawtooth picture hanger to the top notch of the two clips.

It works perfectly!

I didn’t have to get the drill out or have to fight with Mr. Tip to get my frame placed on the wall.

Now that I have the frame up on the wall it is time to show you what else I placed on our porch.

Starting with the decoration for the door, I decided to make a little basket arrangement instead of a wreath.  I found stems on sale at Michael’s for 70% off plus an additional 20% off.  I used blues and green with a pop of pink.

In front of the door I placed a blue pattern throw rug with my DIY monogram door mat on top.  I just have to tell you I love…love my mat that I made.  If you missed my tutorial on how I made the monogram door mat you can go check that out DIY MONOGRAM DOOR MAT.  I love the two together, don’t you?

In the corner I placed my milk can with a hibiscus.  Can’t wait until the hibiscus starts to bloom it’s pretty pink flowers.  I honestly love how this milk can looks on our porch.  If you missed that makeover you can go check that out MILK CAN MAKEOVER.

Sitting in front is my little water pitcher with a Dusty Miller plant tucked inside.

Placing my little planter on the top step with flowers inside to give a little pop of yellow.  If you missed my trash to treasure transformation on the planter you can check that out TRASH TALK.

Every year I place two Kimberly ferns in planters and place them on our brick columns.

It is a simple little inviting front stoop for our guest to feel welcome when visiting.  My next project is painting our front door.  I will share that with you on Thursday’s post.  I finally figured out what color I want it to be.  Have to come over Thursday to see how I picked out the color!

I hope you enjoyed the brick fastener tip and it push you to decorate your brick, if it’s out on your porch or in your home, the fasteners are a great little tool to have in your project box.  And to think….I had them all a long and didn’t even use besides at Christmas.
