With the days becoming shorter it’s time for me to start decorating our home for the cooler weather.  I always pick our Master bedroom to change first, it seems to be the easiest room for me to change. Today I’m sharing a simple way to change the look of your room by simply adding Fall florals.

A few views of our Master bedroom this summer.

Adding Fall florals to your home can be a little pricy.  To keep the cost low I buy stems, picks and greenery to design my own.

I have three arrangement that I like to change out with the season in our Master bedroom. Here are some helpful tips when I create my arrangements.

  • Finding your container is pretty simple ∼  Use a container that will compliment your arrangement and would match the style of your room.
  • Picking the right type of stems for your container ∼ Use stems that would extend beyond the container’s rim 1 1/2 to 2 times the height, for example: a container that is six inches high your stems should be between nine to 12 inches high.
  • Adding your stems to your container ∼ Start with your focal stems, placing them around the sides.  Next will be your fillers.  Add them where needed.  Make sure you look at all sides of your arrangement.

I love keeping pretty stems in one of my ginger jar on my bedroom’s dresser.  I found the cutest Fall stems at Old Time Pottery that I will be adding to the jar along with some other stems I had from last Fall.

Here are the items I used for this arrangement:

  • White ginger jar
  • 3 faux Cattail stems
  • 3 faux Foxtail stems
  •  1 Berry and Grass bush
  • Battery operated light branch
  • 3 purple & green Thistle Spray
  • 1 Maple leaf bush
  • 1 Dollar Tree Cattail pick

Let’s get started!

I added my three cattail stems to my jar.  I spaced them one in the back center and one on each side. (I did remove the tags when I was finished)

I added my foxtail between the cattails.  So now I have a complete outer circle.

For my fillers I am using the berry and leaf bush and the maple leaf bundle.  I added the berry and leaf bush in the center spanning it out throughout the arrangement.  I used the maple leaf bundle singly by cutting the stems off of the bundle. I placed the leaves around the bottom and tuck some in the arrangement as well.

Bending the stems of the leaves to cradle the top of the jar.

I felt the front was bare I added a Dollar Tree bundle.

I thought it would be cute to add the battery operated light branch to the arrangement.  I placed it in the center and fanned out the branches throughout the arrangement.

I stepped back and realized I needed a touch of blue.  So I grabbed 3 thistle stems I used last year in my ginger jar and added to the arrangement.

It’s perfect for our bedroom!

The next arrangement is pretty easy.  I am using one bundle of wheat and a little pottery container.  Very simple and so pretty.

Here are the items I used.

  • pottery pitcher
  • wheat and grass bush

All I did was place the bush inside the vase and spread the wheat and grass the way I wanted it.

That’s it!  And it looks super cute on my night table.

The last floral change is the basket on top of our armoire cabinet.  I added wheat picks, grass picks and twigs to the basket.  No rhyme or reason I just took each bundle and placed inside the empty basket.

  1. Terrie, all 3 of your arrangements are so pretty and perfect for fall! I agree that adding them to your home really touches on fall.
    hugs,

  2. Pretty arrangements for your fall bedroom! I’ll bet that the lights that you added to the first arrangement look so cozy at night. Your bedroom looks to be a wonderful place to rest, relax, and sleep each evening.

    1. Thanks Paula. It does look real nice with the little lights on. Our bedroom is off of the main part of our home, it is viewed by a lot of our guest so having that little lighted branch in the floral gives a little touch to their view. Thanks for stopping by. Love hopping with you Paula

  3. Hi Terrie!

I love your fall arrangements and how you showed us how to create them step by step. They are all so gorgeous I don’t know which is my favorite, but I do love the lighted branches that you added to the first one! So cozy!

  4. I love all your fall floral arrangements, Terrie! I think my favorite might be the basket, but it’s hard to decide. They’re all lovely. I enjoy making my own arrangements for fall, too. Pinning!

    1. Thanks Crissy. The basket was just dropping bundles inside. Sometimes your best work is the ones you don’t put any thought into. Thanks for stopping by. I enjoy hopping with you!

  5. Terrie,
Thank you for sharing how you put together your faux floral arrangements. Seeing the process of others always gives me ideas. Your neutral arrangements are versatile enough you will be able to use them all the way through Thanksgiving.

    1. I love sharing ideas and tips. Thanks for your sweet comments. Yes…I think the colors will work perfect for the months until I start decorating for Christmas. I hope you have a great week!

  6. These Fall floral arrangements are so pretty Terrie! I just now started buying picks instead of full fall stems and it definitely makes putting arrangements together much more budget friendly. I love all the different containers you’ve chosen too. They’re all great! Hugs, CoCo

    1. Thanks CoCo. I wish I had a green thumb to be able to go out and cut some fresh flowers, but for me that just isn’t in my garden to do so I buy mine and save them for the next year. Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Great step by step tutorial Terrie! When you added the blue thistle and lights it really made all the difference. It was already pretty but those elements made it just perfect for your bedroom.

I love the simple wheat in the pottery pitcher too. That is a beautiful pitcher!

Thank you so much for joining the hop today. Happy (almost)early fall!

    1. I thought it needed something especially with the rooms navy. It was a perfect addition I agree. Thanks for hosting this wonderful blog hop. It holds a lot of inspiration.

    1. Thanks Cindy. It is always so much fun working with you. I hope you enjoyed my tips. I use them all the time when placing stems into containers. It seems to help me so I wanted to share it with everyone.

    1. Thanks Linda. First thing I do is change out my flowers. I wish I had more of a green thumb to display ones out in a garden but I stick with buying faux stems and letting the beauty come from those. Happy September my friend!

  8. All your arrangements are lovely.

I bought some gorgeous faux bloom and greenery for my tall vintage milk bucket. I made an arrangement, but didn’t photograph it for my post because I just couldn’t get the arrangement right.

I’ll make cookies if you’ll come over and help me make it look pretty!

    1. I would be there in a heart beat not just for cookies, but I bet they are delicious. I would love to see your home and the area you live in Carol. Thanks for stopping by, you are always so sweet.

  9. Very tasteful floral designs, Terrie! I love how you mixed the thistle in with the fall browns, oranges. And, of course, little lights are always an enhancement. I bet it’s really pretty in your bedroom in the evenings. Happy September!

    1. Thank you Marty. I love a little light the arrangement puts off. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such a sweet comment. Love hopping with you! Happy September!

  10. Your fall arrangements are pretty Terrie. I really like the added branch of light. You used beautiful vessels too with textures.

    Enjoy your Monday my friend
