DOLLAR TREE TABLE TOP CHRISTMAS TREE

Have you seen the little trees Dollar Tree sells?  Today, I am going to share with you how I styled them in our home for Christmas.  Also, several of my friends will be sharing how they styled the little tree as well.

It’s the first Wednesday of the month, which means time for the DIY challenge blog hop!  We thought it would be fun this month to share our inspiration on how you could style the Dollar Tree mini tree in your home for the Christmas season.  The rules were very simple,  use one or more of the Dollar Tree mini Christmas tree any way you want.  I am so excited to be hosting this challenge.  I have gathered a group of talented DIYers to share their inspiration for you.  I listed all of my friend’s blog links at the bottom of my page, all you have to do is click to head over to their homes where they will show you how they styled their trees.

The Dollar Tree in our area had both green and white mini trees.  Not often will you find them still on their shelves, normally they sell out fast.   This was the case with some of my friends in this month’s challenge.  They are so bound and determined to share how to style a mini tree they found a similar tree from thrift stores or other department stores to share with us, they are so sweet.  :).   I purchased three white mini trees and one green tree to share with you today.

I placed the green tree in my upper cabinet.  To make my mini tree fuller I used the garland wire ties Dollar Tree sells.  Taking a couple ties and twisting them around the tree’s center pole was all I needed to do.

I wish they make those little garland wire ties in white, but they don’t so I bought a third tree for extra branches.

Here is what the tree looks like right out of the box after I shaped it.  Not too bad…I wanted mine to be a little shorter and fuller so here is what I did.

I took one of the trees out of the box and removed the tree off the stand center piece.

I unraveled the threads to release the branches off the metal pin.

I divided the branches up into two piles since I am going to style two trees.

On both trees I removed the tree stand and unraveled the first section from the tree only.  I tied the threads so they would not unravel anymore.

I am going to cut mine down about 2 inches.

I placed the tree back into the stand while working on the branches.

I painted the trunk of the tree with Waverly Truffle chalk paint.

Taking the branches I removed off the bottom of the tree and adding them to each of the bottom branches.  I took one loose branch and twist it once on the bottom tree’s branch.

I took the branches I removed off of the first tree and add to the rest of the branches.  I cut the pieces to keep the same length and shape.

When it came to the top.  I added smaller pieces by wrapping the end around the very top of the tree.  To keep the tree’s shape I snipped some of the branches.

I shaped my branches to make a pretty shaped tree.

Look at the difference.

Removing the tree from the stand one last time.  I found pails from the Dollar Spot at Target.  They were once white, I painted them to match my kitchen’s theme.  Filled the pail with floral foam and push the tree down in the foam.  I added Dollar Tree battery operated lights.

I added red, aqua and dark aqua ornaments along with red check ribbon.

I added the decorated trees on the top shelf of my kitchen hutch.

    1. I was a little worried when I pulled the white tree out of the box. But they are really cute all dressed up. Love that you joined in on the hop Shae. Merry Christmas!

  2. Terrie, first you were so smart to buy extra trees. There were plenty in both colors when I bought mine, but they were all gone after that. Next year I’ll know better. This is a scrawny tree, so it definitely needs extra filler. I never thought to do that they way you did. They turned out very cute and adds a real festive addition to your hutch. Thanks for hosting and Merry Christmas.

    1. You are right if you find something at Dollar Tree you best get it then or it won’t be when you come back. It was a fun challenge to work on together. Thanks Carol for joining me in the challenge each month. It is always fun.

  3. I didn’t know they sold white ones too! Such a good idea to buy one more for filler. Don’t think I would have considered that nor would I have thought to paint the stem for a more natural look. All three work so well with your Christmas theme. I’m really lovin’ aqua and red. My RV is going in that direction, lol. Pinned.

    1. I wasn’t too sure how the white would look, I wished I would of gathered Jessica’s inspiration before decorating mine. I think I love the idea of spraying it with some flocking to help remove some of the fake look. For $1 it is a good little item to purchase. Thanks for joining in on the challenge with me.

  4. They look amazing Terrie. I love how much fuller they are just by adding a few additional branches in. Beautiful as always ❤️

    1. Thanks Danya. The trees are perfect form for the price. From what I saw on this challenge even using by itself looks pretty darn cute as well. Thank you so much for joining in on this challenge.

  5. This is so cute! I love what you did with the little trees. It turned out really good! Finding these little trees turned out to be quite an adventure, but I loved this challenge! 😀

    1. They were kind of skimpy on the branches. They are a great size for the cost with a little help in filling the spaces up with the Dollar Tree garland wire ties or another table top tree they are cute however you style them. Thanks for joining me on this challenge, it was so fun.
