I am so excited about today’s blog post on my tutorial of a Spring home decor piece. I am joining in with some blogging friends in a DIY Spring Challenge. Not only will I be sharing a Spring DIY but 5 other bloggers will be sharing theirs as well. A huge thank you to Shae from Sweet Southern Grace in hosting our challenge. Be sure to view all of my friend’s Spring DIY at the bottom of my page.
DIY Cherry Blossom Tree
To create a Cherry Blossom Tree, you will need the supplies below.
- Thick branch to resemble a small tree (I am using a faux base of a Ficus tree)
- 10 blossom stems (I am using 10 blossom stems from Dollar Tree)
- Brown floral tape
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Wire snips
- Drill and drill bit
I removed the green branches from the faux Ficus tree by pulling the leaf bundles out of the base.
For those who do not have a faux Ficus tree around, go out in the yard and find a nice size branch with good bones to make a tree base.
Directions:
Create blossom bundles:
Bundle your stems to form clusters, I am using 4 of the Dollar Tree stems for each bundle with floral tape.
I made three bundles for the top of my tree. Placing each bundle in the slots where the green bundles were securing them with hot glue.
The tree is starting to take shape.
Create single blossom stems
Drill holes into the branch for single stems.
I stripped the end of the stem to expose the wire, hot glued the end and poked the glued wire into the drilled hole.
For my tree, I had a hard foam bulb at the bottom. I took a hammer and chipped it away from the branch.
I can’t believe how easy this DIY was and how pretty my Cherry Blossom tree turned out. Yesterday, I shared the front entryway where I styled the tree. Did you see the post, if not here is the link to my Easter Entryway. EASTER ENTRYWAY INSPIRATION
