DOLLAR TREE PLAQUE TRANSFORMATION

When decorating the master bedroom, I didn’t have a frame to place over the bed.  I decided to make one out of a Dollar Tree plaque I had on hand.  Here’s how!

I grabbed an old Christmas DIY flop frame.

The back of the sign and plaque, will be perfect for what I need.

Since using the back, I removed the two wall hangers.

With Painter’s putty I filled in the holes in both the frame and plaque.

I sanded everything down with sandpaper and wiped clean.

I painted three coats of light gray paint to the entire frame.

To create wood like planks I used a chip brush creating V marks with brown paint.  Sweeping with the chip brush to soften the marks.

I did the pattern all the way down the frame.

To attach the plaque to the frame I used wood glue and hot glue.

To keep the plaque pressed down on the frame I added two paint cans for weight.

After the glue dried, I decided to paint the frame and detail it with a whitewash.

I added a saw tooth hanger to what is now the back of the frame.

Didn’t the frame turn out super cute?  I love it.  I placed it up above our bed in the master bedroom for Spring.

Now to decorate the rest of the room, which I will share here tomorrow!
