It’s time for another monthly Creative Craft hop, this month we have 9 crafters sharing some fun crafts.  Thanks to Sara, Birdz of a Feather for being our sweet host each month.  The bottom of my page, I will share each participant’s link to their craft.

If you are coming over from Ann, The Apple Street Cottage welcome!

For my craft I am creating a Fall garland, using a eucalyptus garland I purchased a while back in Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree stems and pumpkins.

Fall Garland Tutorial

Supplies I used:

  • Garland for a base
  • Two bundles of each:  Orange and off-white Hydrangeas, green Amaranthus, blooming branch, yellow wheat and fall leaves
  • 4 packages of the burlap clipped mini pumpkins
  • 10 pinecones
  • 1 roll of yellow mesh ribbon
  • floral wire and tape
  • hot glue and a glue gun
  • wire snips

Step One

Cut the stems off of each bundle with wire snips.

Step two

Add stems to the pinecones with hot glue.  I cut small pieces off the stems I am using.

Remove leaves from the bundles and add to the stems of the pinecones.

Step three

Make 10 stem bouquets.  An easier way to build a themed garland would be create bouquets.  One by one, add each stem together.

Wrap floral wire to secure the stems together, hide the wire with floral tape.

Step four

Lay out the base garland on a flat surface.

Add the bouquets to the base with floral wire.

Add two bouquets to the center and 4 to each side.

Step five

Add the pumpkins to the garland by clipping them on.

Step six

Using the mesh ribbon wrap the mesh around the garland, making large loops between the bouquets.

The tutorial I am sharing doesn’t have to be just for Fall, follow the same steps for any occasion and you will create a beautiful high-end garland!

When I decorate with the garland maybe I’ll add some fairy lights, wouldn’t that be pretty?

  1. Terrie! This is so fun and I can hardly believe it came from the dollar store! Love the colors and the added mesh garland. You’ve got me excited to begin my fall decorating. Hope you start linking up at Farmhouse Friday. I’d love to feature your fabulous diy’s and decor from time to time. Hope you’re having a wonderful week.

  2. The garland looks fabulous! Will have to check out Dollar Trees supplies. If you don’t get what you need early (at any of the craft shops), you won’t find it.

    1. This is so true. You have to buy it when you see it or when you go back when you are ready to use it, it’s all gone. Plan ahead when shopping at Dollar Tree. 🙂

  3. Terrie, your fall garland is so pretty and I love your combination of materials! (I just bought these pumpkins, too!) Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  4. Terrie your garland is so pretty. I can see using this technique to make a garland for a mantle, to place around a door… the possiblilities are endless and you make it look so easy. Great job on creating a beautiful garland – plus those dishes are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Oh Terrie, I love love this! So smart the way you put it together, and it’s so perfect for the entire Fall season. Yes, add twinkle lights, that will be magical! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration and tutorial!

  6. I’m not quite ready for Fall projects yet myself so love that this is adaptable to any occasion! This is so beautiful and rustic Terrie – everything great about Fall rolled up into one project :).

    1. As you, I haven’t pulled out my Fall yet either, but ready to prepare for my Fall decor pieces. Create and wait is the words for me right now. Thank you Sara for your kind words and hosting this fun blog hop.
