FOYER TOUR

Welcome back friends!  It is later than I wanted to get this out but it made it that’s all that matters.  It is Friday and I am ready for the weekend.  The weather is not going to be the best.  Rain and cold most of the weekend for our area.  Do you have big plans for the weekend? Hope you have a great time doing whatever you have planned.

Are you thinking about the holidays and all the decorating that is going to take place?  I am sure your house is decorated for the fall season, but when do you normally start decorating for Christmas?  It will be here before we know it.

Today I am excited to share with you our front entrance way into our home.  Our foyer is a very small space it has several obstacles (doorways).  The first place your guest enters should reflect your home’s style.  No matter how large or small your entryway needs to feel warm and welcoming.  It also needs to be functional not only for you and your family but for your guest.

In styling your foyer or entryway remember the 3 S’s.  Storage – Surface – Sitting

Storage – Something to store your belongings that would normally be scattered around on the floor.  A basket is a good storage bin to hold shoes or umbrellas.  A coat tree or wall tree would be a good item to hand up your guest’s coat or purse.

Surface – A table or shelf near your entryway is important to have to place your keys, mail and to place a lamp for lighting.

Sitting – If you have enough room a bench or a chair would be necessary so you can sit down and take your shoes on or off.

Now for other items that can make a foyer warm and welcoming.

A Rug – No matter what size your space is place a rug by the door. If you have enough room place a larger area rug.

A Mirror – having a mirror helps enlarge your space and gives you that last makeup and hair check.

Decorative accents – this is the fun part!  Putting your personal touch in your space.

Lighting – Make sure you have good lighting in your space.

Now that we know the essentials of making a warm and welcoming entrance, let’s get started on my Foyer Tour.  If you have missed the other tours that we have taken through my home you can go tour them HERE.

What a great way to greet guest and add curb appeal to your home by adding a beautiful door decoration.  If you missed how I made my door wreath go HERE.  Make sure you pop back here to catch up with us.

Welcome to our home!  When you first walk in you will see two of our main rooms.  To the right is our dining room and straight ahead is our living room.  The picture below is the view looking into our foyer from the living room.

Our foyer is 6′ x 8′ with 4 doors.  Not very design friendly.  I placed a coat tree in the corner for our guest to hang their coats or purses on.  I purchased the coat tree from Kirkland’s.  The online site is out of stock, but Home Depot has one similar.

On the floor I have a shag neutral area rug.  It is a 3′ x 5′ I purchased that at Home Depot.

Here is the area that I styled to welcome our guests.

On the wall I placed an oval dark framed mirror that was purchased at Kirkland’s.  Online they are out of stock.  Here is one similar at Home Depot.

The little glass console table I also purchased at Kirkland’s.  It is no longer available.  I have had these items for a long while.  I am sure they have some pieces that you will find perfect for your space.

This is how I styled the top of the table.

On the table I placed a tall faux grass arrangement with a rope planter. *TIP* It is always good to bring some sort of nature in any vignette.  In front of the arrangement I sat a little faux book and placed a bronze artichoke tealight.  On the other side of the table I placed a gold pillar candle holder.  I placed a little gold square plate to hold keys.  Sorry that I didn’t show you an option on where to buy something similar.  I tried, but the prices are ridiculous to share.  I bought the items from TjMaxx and Ross.  The little square plate I purchased at the Dollar Tree.

I placed a basket and mercury glass jar on the floor next to the table.

The gold mercury glass container.

In the corner I placed a basket with a throw and some decorative pillows.  The basket I found at TjMaxx, the pillows I found at Tuesday Morning and the throw I purchased on Amazon.  I like all the different textures of this setting.

Here is a look of my foyer one more time.

For our small foyer I think I did a pretty good job on making it warm and welcoming.  My space doesn’t allow room for a sitting area.  The dining room is right off of the foyer if our guest needs a chair.

This will end the tour of my foyer.  I hope I gave you some inspiration and some ideas.  Do you have a special item that you place in your entryway? Let me know, I always love to hear other people’s ideas or designs.

Thanks for stopping by and touring our foyer.  I enjoy having you here and hope that you will continue to keep coming back.

Stay strong and stay blessed!
Terrie
