LOGANBERRY PATTERNED DISHCLOTH

All right friends, it’s time again for another Under $10 on the 10th blog hop, hosted by my friend Tammy Patina and Paint. I always look forward to seeing the inspiration that everyone has to share each month!  This month theme is Crafts, we have 6 bloggers sharing some crafts for under $10.  I will have all the girl’s blog link listed at the bottom of my page.

For my craft I am sharing my favorite knitted dishcloth pattern using Dollar Tree’s Just Cotton yarn.

I started knitting when my dear friend taught me how to knit dishcloths when I was recovering from surgery.  Since then, I have knitted different dishcloths, as a result I have several in my drawer today!
I love the looks of the Loganberry dishcloth because of the bubble texture pattern.  Not only does it look pretty, but it works for removing hard stuck food on your dishes.
It’s a 4-row repeat, which involves using a knit and purl stitch.  I wouldn’t say this pattern would be beginner friendly, but once you master it gets easier.

Knitted Loganberry Dishcloth Pattern

What you’ll need:

  • A pair of knitting needles – I used size 9
  • Your favorite 100% cotton yarn – Peaches and Cream – Just Cotton (Dollar Tree)

Instructions:

  • Cast on 42 stitches

  • Knit 2 rows

Loganberry 4- row repeat pattern

  1. Row 1 – (right side) Knit 2, Purl to the last 2 stitches, Knit 2
  2. Row 2 – (wrong side) Knit 3, *in the 4th stitch (Knit 1-Purl 1-Knit 1) all in one stitch, the next 3 stitches Purl all in one stitch* repeat the two patterns to the last 3 stitches, Knit 3
  3. Row 3 – Knit 2, Purl to the last 2 stitches, Knit 2
  4. Row 4 – Knit 3, * the next 3 stitches Purl all in one stitch, next stitch (Knit 1-Purl 1-Knit 1) all in one stitch* repeat the two patterns to the last 3 stitches, Knit 3

  • Repeat the Loganberry pattern 8 more times

  • Knit 2 rows

  • Bind off

The Dollar Tree’s, Just Cotton yarn worked alright, however, I like the dishcloths knitted with Peaches and Cream yarn.  The Peaches and Cream runs around $2.00 and the Dollar Tree, Just Cotton runs $1.25.  Regardless which yarn you use it’s still a pretty pattern.

  1. Terrie, thank you!!! My grandmother was the first person I learned to knit from back when I was 7 years old, but I picked it up again from a college dormmate who turned out lived near my husband and myself when I was pregnant with our daughter. She taught me to knit dishcloths for those first few items to learn how to keep my stitches even. Then I went on to knit two sweaters for my little daughter.

How fun is your dishcloth pattern! I’ll need to go get some yarn but I still have my needles… This will give me something fun to do while watching tv. I’m looking forward to trying it!

Happy knitting and happy Valentine’s Day to you,
    Barb 🙂

    1. It is a perfect time to knit when sitting watching TV. Sometimes, it isn’t so relaxing when you missed a stitch and have to figure where. ha! Have a great day my friend.

  2. I can’t think of a better way to spend your time while healing. And I totally think you should sell those little cuties! I have some that were given to me and they are my faves. Love the pattern and color you chose.

    1. It really past the time away while sitting. It was right before Christmas, so guess what everyone got for a gift….yes dishcloths. 🙂 Thanks for coming by Cindy I appreciate it.

    1. Dollar Tree worked alright it just feels lighter and stretched out when wet. I like a tight cloth myself, I use these for display purposes come Easter. Thanks Allyson!

  3. Terrie – I am so impressed! My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was little but I haven’t done any of that since my twenties. This makes me want to try. My MIL makes dishcloths that she knits and they are my favorite to use. You are one talented girl! I’m not sure that there is anything that you can’t make or do. Thanks so much for sharing!

    1. I was taught to crochet when I was a little girl and made my first afghan when I was in grade school. I just learned how to knit 7 years ago, which now I don’t even think about crocheting, it’s always knitting. I tossed out all my kitchen dishcloths and replaced them with knitted ones. I won’t use anything but those. I spoiled my kids because they don’t like to use any other either.

I appreciate your kind words Tammy, I try most of anything, if it doesn’t work I chalk it up to not being able too. I have a list of things I can’t do but I have tried doing them. 🙂

    1. It does take a little hand movement for sure. I am happy I am able to still knit, I just love using the knitted dishcloths. Thanks Corine, as always love working with you!
