Y’all the tutorial I am sharing with you today is a “must-make” Bunny.  Seriously, these are so stinking cute and would be perfect to give to a little one instead of a chocolate bunny.  I even provided the template so all you have to do is print it off.  🙂

First thing before I share the tutorial you will want to print out the bunny silhouette pattern.  We can make them together!

For the pattern I used one of my metal bunnies, I placed it on a poster board and traced around it 1/2 inch larger than the bunny.

 Silhouette Fabric Bunny

The items you will need:

  • Bunny pattern – I provided for you
  • fabric – I purchased Waverly fabric from Wal-mart  starting at 97¢ to $1.47
  • filler – I used a throw pillow I wasn’t using, cut the top of the pillow and used the filler
  • ribbon
  • sewing machine, fabric glue or hot glue

Cutting out the bunny pattern

  1. Fold your fabric in half with the front side facing each other
  2. Place your bunny pattern on top of the fabric
  3. Trace around your pattern
  4. cut the bunny out

I am using my sewing machine to stitch the two pieces together with a basic stitch.  You could hot glue the pieces or use fabric glue.  You want 1/2 inch seam allowance and leave 3 inch opening at the bottom of your bunny.

Turn your pattern so the front of the fabric is facing you.  Connect the two pieces of bunny together…remember to leave 3 inches at the bottom to fill your bunny.

I frayed the edges of my bunny.  On a previous tutorial I shared how I fray material you can view the tutorial out here →FRAY MATERIAL.   Trimmed the threads evenly.  Another option is using pinking shears to give your edge some texture.

Place your filler inside your bunny and stitch or seal the opening closed.  Tie a pretty ribbon around the neck of your bunny.  That’s it.  How cute are these?

  1. Your bunnies are adorable, Terrie, and a nice alternative to candy for the the little ones. I’ll bet they’re really cute made with pinking shears too. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you Ann, they are so cute and simple to make. I love giving my children and now grand babies an Easter basket, but being very small I thought the little bunny would be safe and fun for her to play with. I always enjoying hopping with you! Happy Spring

  2. I love using those fat quarters from Walmart. I use them for tons of things… napkins… I love these. Thanks for the template, I think I will make these for the littles in our family. So sweet! Once again, you did not disappoint!

    1. The fat quarters went up a bit. I purchased some for .97 and now they are $1.47. Still very affordable. Yes, like you I have used them for napkins. I think your little ones will love them Tammy. Thanks!

  3. Oh my goodness, Terrie these bunnies are absolutely ADORABLE!! I love the fun fabrics you chose too!! Pinning and can’t wait to use your template and make some for my grandson!!

    1. Oh Christine if you make them please you will have to show me how yours turns out. I thought instead of the chocolate bunny adding one of the fabric ones in their Easter basket would be fun and cute. So happy you like my little craft. Happy Spring!

  4. Terrie,

These so stink’n adorable!! I love the frayed edges on these so much. It adds so much more character.

Bravo my friend, you have fantastic creativity. Great tutorial too.

    Cindy

    1. They are so cute. I was told no candy for the grandbabies, so I had to find something to put in their Easter baskets, plus they will be so little anyway. ha! That is what gave me an idea to make something they can carry around or play with. Thanks Cindy. Happy March! I also love your new blog page!

    1. Awe thanks Patti! We both were on the same page working with fabric. I am loving the Spring colors looks great after the neutrals we all use for the winter season. Happy to be hopping with you today!
