For my craft today I am sharing how I gave two terracotta pots a makeover.  I had the two pots up in my supply closet asking for a makeover. 🙂  This makeover is simple and super quick, so let’s get started!

I am using English navy and Parchment white craft paint for this craft.

For both terracotta pots I gave two coats of the white craft paint.  It dries very fast.

Taking the smaller terracotta pot and the English navy craft paint using a thin bristle paint brush I free-handed stripes to the pot.

Adding a ribbon around the ridge of the pot with hot glue.

That’s it.

On the larger terracotta pot I took again the English Navy and free-hand little herringbone marks.

Added the same ribbon to the ridge with hot glue.  Very simple makeover.

I added plants inside my terracotta pots to finish the look.

  1. Terrie, I love your blue and white flower pots! The imperfections that come with something painted freehand just makes it more charming and unique. I want to try that herringbone design myself! It was a pleasure hopping with you!

  2. Your pots are so lovely, Terrie! I LOVE that you freehanded the design! I seriously couldn’t paint a straight line, never mind a herringbone pattern! You are so talented my friend!

  3. These terracotta pots look amazing, the color and pattern combo is so fresh! Would love to display my greenery in these pots.

  4. Terrie, these are so darn cute! I have been playing with lots of clay pots this summer, but these are a new twist on them! I may have to experiment some more! Thanks so much for hopping with us!

  5. Love the blue and white over terra cotta. I’ve got some old ones in the garage. Can’t wait to try this. I especially love the herringbone pattern. When I’ve tried to put ribbon on a pot it never seems to work well. Is there a secret? Thanks for participating in the hop.

  6. These pots are really cute Terrie!! Simple treatments are sometimes the most effective and I love the herringbone pattern you created with your paint brush! By the way, you called me Sara, it’s Jenna from the Painted Apron, thanks~

    1. Hi Terrie,

Cute project and quick. It’s a great idea to have some pots on our craft stash. I keep different sizes on hand

  7. These turned out fantastic! Love the colors you picked out too. Looks amazing, great tutorial, thanks for sharing, and wonderful crafting with you friend.

  8. These are so pretty – and I always love anything navy! Now I’m inspired to paint some of my terra cotta pots. In the past, I’ve painted them in solid colors but never with cute designs like yours. Time to start! Great hopping with you again! (possible dupe comment so delete one if needed).
