FIRST STAGE OF OUR BACK PORCH MAKEOVER!

Hello friends!  I am so excited that our back porch is finally going to get screened in. We have been wanting this done for quite some time.  I am so thrilled to start this project and to share it with you!  You know with any project one thing leads to another.  This will not be any different, I have several things now that I want to do after the screening is done.  I’m so excited!

Today I want to share with you our patio before the project starts.  I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get this party started!

Below are photos of our porch last spring/summer.  We really enjoy our porch, but once the mosquitoes are out it is impossible for us to sit out there and relax.

Our back porch is a nice size, it gives us enough room for both a sitting and a dining area.  We love sitting on the swing when it is nice outside, so peaceful in the mornings and so easy to wind down before we turn in for the night.

Here is our back porch today before the work begins

At the end of the season we remove all the cushions and tuck them in the deck box to protect it from the harsh winter weather.  We moved all the furniture toward the house to give the contractor room to work.

Once the porch is screened we will start our DIY projects.

We have two recess light fixtures for the lighting now.  We are going to add ceiling fans to the porch.  We are debating rather we want to have two small fans to replace the recess lighting or add just one fan in the center and keep the recess lighting as is.  If we decide the last option, we will be installing a dimmer switch so we can dim the lights.

For the floor I am going to be painting or staining the concrete.  I like the looks of both.  I have a little time before I have to make that decision.

We will paint the furniture to freshen all the pieces up for this season.  We are hoping to purchase patio furniture after the season when the stores mark down their inventory.

If you have been following me on Facebook or Instagram I shared with you my thrift store coffee table. Can you tell now what I was thinking when I bought the table?  I am going to paint it and place it out on the back porch.  Here is the $5.00 coffee table for those who hadn’t seen it.

I hope you stay with me through the back porch makeover.  I will keep you posted on each stage of our project.  First thing is screening it in….YAY!

Thanks for stopping by!  I love that I can share this project from start to finish with you so please stay tune for my future back porch updates.
