How to make a wooden beaded scoop
Items needed:
- Dollar Tree wooden spoon
- 2 small, 2medium and 1 large size beads
- twine
- embellishment of your choice
- paint
- ribbon
- saw
- drill and drill bit
- sandpaper
- hot glue
First Step: Create the scoop
- Measure from the bottom of the spoon up toward the handle 6 inches make a mark.
- Cut on the handle where you placed the mark.
- Sand the cut edge smooth.
- Drill a hole in the top center of the spoon.
Second step: Paint the beads.
- With the colors of your choice, paint your beads and let dry.
Third step: Embellish your spoon.
- I am embellishing my spoon with a word tag, from a Dollar General Fall decor piece. I took the decor piece apart and used only the tag.
- Thread a long piece of twine through the tag and the drilled hole of the spoon.
- Tie the two ends of the twine into a knot large enough to prevent going through the drilled holes. This will create a large loop with the twine.
Step four: Add your beads.
- With the doubled-up twine, thread the beads on both pieces.
- Tie another knot next to the last bead, leaving a loop at the end of your beaded chain.
- Tie a pretty bow to the top of your beads.
And that’s it! A cute little kitchen decor piece you can hang on a canister or place on a tiered tray. Make it your own, your color, your embellishments and place wherever you want! I hope this inspires you to make your own creation.
