I knew when I was going to change up my Christmas colors I would have to do some creative thinking. I don’t know if you are like I am when it comes to saving things, most people would throw the things away. I have two large tubs full of decor pieces that I want to fix up for “ONE” year. But that year never comes, I just keep putting them back into the tub. What did I call them earlier? Misfits?
This year is the year I am going to give a couple of my old worn out Christmas decor pieces a new look. Let’s get started! I have two to share with you today.

Starting with my Boot Arrangement.
I don’t even remember when I received him. I have changed the greenery out so many times that I don’t even remember what it originally looked like. 🙁
First, what I did was I removed all of the greenery. I separated it in piles. What needs to be thrown away, keep for another project or to be place back in the boot after the makeover.
I placed plastic grocery bags inside the boot to protect the inner parts when I spray paint the boot.
I used white Rust-oleum spray paint and gave the boot two coats of paint.
While the boot dries I am taking the two little gold ornament decor piece (it was in the arrangement), paint, mod podge and glitter.
I mixed up my Ballet Slipper chalk paint and Metallic Rose Gold craft paint to custom mix the color blush I wanted.
I painted both ornaments, let dry, added a coat of mod podge and sprinkled iridescent glitter all over the two ornaments.
Let both the boot and glittered ornaments sit until they were good and dry.
Once the boot was dry I grabbed my faux fur garland and hot glue gun.
I measured around the boot, cut the length of fur I needed and glued it to the top of the boot.
In the front of the boot it curves instead of connecting, so I cut the fur to match the edging of the boot.
I am loving how it is taking shape now. Adding back the greenery, glitter ornaments and a little bow in the boot.
Doesn’t he look so cute?
Even though the boot wasn’t all that worn out I love the fresh new look I created.
Now for Santa!
My sister-in-law gave him to me one year for my birthday…..I would say many moons ago. 🙂 He looks a little tired in his older years. Part of the star broke off somehow a while back, so I added some wood putty and shaped it back into a star.
I will sand it smooth when it dries.
I am taking off the little decor pieces he is holding in both hands. I just uncurled the wire and pulled the wire out of each hand.
I am painting all the red and green parts with Sand color craft paint.
Gave him two coats of paint.
After I sanded the star I applied mod podge and gold glitter to the star only.
To the little items on the wire that he was holding. I used some jewels and sequins to add to the Christmas trees. I also painted the little bird house and train. I rewired it and placed it back onto Santa’s hands.
I took my faux fur and hot glue around his hat, cuffs, bottom of his coat and painted his shoes black.
This is how he turned out.
What do you think of Santa? He is a doll, isn’t he?
