DIY FALL VIGNETTE

Hello friends!

I had to share this little Fall vignette with you and how I made them both.  My thought was maybe you will want to create this vignette in your home.  It was fun, simple and inexpensive to create.

I am going to share my two DIYs this morning!   Get ready and make your shopping list so you can gather what you need and hurry back and sit down with me and start creating! 🙂

Let’s get started!

First up:

DIY Fall Chalkboard Art

Here are the items you will need for this DIY:

  1. picture frame.  I found mine for 50¢ at a thrift store.
  2. chalkboard paint
  3. paint brush
  4. chalk

Take apart your picture frame.  I wanted my frame white, I painted one coat of chalk paint and distressed the frame.

Take the back of your frame and paint with your chalkboard paint.  Let dry.

Now the design.  Whatever you prefer, with a stencil or free hand.  I am going to use a print out that I found on Google search.  I took my pattern and made my DIY carbon paper {color the whole back of your print out with a pencil}.

I flipped my picture back around and centered it on my board.  I traced the pattern out on my chalkboard painted board.

I bared a little harder when tracing.  As you can tell you can see the pattern.

I took my chalk and traced over the pattern.

I wanted my back ground to look more like a used chalk board instead of a fresh clean background.  I took my chalk and colored the back ground and then I took a piece of paper towel smearing the chalk.

I am happy with how it turned out.

I placed it back into the frame.  That’s it!

Second DIY

Yarn Pumpkins.

Here are the items you will need:

  1. yarn – I made 4 pumpkins out of one rim of yarn.
  2. mini pine cones
  3. twig
  4. hot glue and glue gun
  5. a form to wrap your yarn around

Take your yarn and wrap.  Using a rod (or spoon in my case) creates a hollow place to add the stem.  Do not wrap too tight, you will want to be able to remove the spoon handle.  I try to wrap it in the shape of a pumpkin by wrapping more around the middle.

To secure the end of the yarn dab a little hot glue and press with the tip of your scissors.

I took my pine cone and cut the top to the size I wanted.

Take your twig and cut shorter than the size of your spool of yarn.  Adding a dab of hot glue to the top of your twig.

I placed the little pine cone tip to the glue twig.  Place the twig in the center of your spool.  I did not glue the twig to the yarn.  Mine fit snug.

That’s it!  They are so adorable. 🙂

Putting the two together to make a simple & easy DIY Fall vignette.
