With the days becoming shorter it’s time for me to start decorating our home for the cooler weather. I always pick our Master bedroom to change first, it seems to be the easiest room for me to change. Today I’m sharing a simple way to change the look of your room by simply adding Fall florals.
A few views of our Master bedroom this summer.
Adding Fall florals to your home can be a little pricy. To keep the cost low I buy stems, picks and greenery to design my own.
I have three arrangement that I like to change out with the season in our Master bedroom. Here are some helpful tips when I create my arrangements.
- Finding your container is pretty simple ∼ Use a container that will compliment your arrangement and would match the style of your room.
- Picking the right type of stems for your container ∼ Use stems that would extend beyond the container’s rim 1 1/2 to 2 times the height, for example: a container that is six inches high your stems should be between nine to 12 inches high.
- Adding your stems to your container ∼ Start with your focal stems, placing them around the sides. Next will be your fillers. Add them where needed. Make sure you look at all sides of your arrangement.
I love keeping pretty stems in one of my ginger jar on my bedroom’s dresser. I found the cutest Fall stems at Old Time Pottery that I will be adding to the jar along with some other stems I had from last Fall.
Here are the items I used for this arrangement:
- White ginger jar
- 3 faux Cattail stems
- 3 faux Foxtail stems
- 1 Berry and Grass bush
- Battery operated light branch
- 3 purple & green Thistle Spray
- 1 Maple leaf bush
- 1 Dollar Tree Cattail pick
Let’s get started!
I added my three cattail stems to my jar. I spaced them one in the back center and one on each side. (I did remove the tags when I was finished)
I added my foxtail between the cattails. So now I have a complete outer circle.
For my fillers I am using the berry and leaf bush and the maple leaf bundle. I added the berry and leaf bush in the center spanning it out throughout the arrangement. I used the maple leaf bundle singly by cutting the stems off of the bundle. I placed the leaves around the bottom and tuck some in the arrangement as well.
Bending the stems of the leaves to cradle the top of the jar.
I felt the front was bare I added a Dollar Tree bundle.
I thought it would be cute to add the battery operated light branch to the arrangement. I placed it in the center and fanned out the branches throughout the arrangement.
I stepped back and realized I needed a touch of blue. So I grabbed 3 thistle stems I used last year in my ginger jar and added to the arrangement.
It’s perfect for our bedroom!
The next arrangement is pretty easy. I am using one bundle of wheat and a little pottery container. Very simple and so pretty.
Here are the items I used.
- pottery pitcher
- wheat and grass bush
All I did was place the bush inside the vase and spread the wheat and grass the way I wanted it.
That’s it! And it looks super cute on my night table.
The last floral change is the basket on top of our armoire cabinet. I added wheat picks, grass picks and twigs to the basket. No rhyme or reason I just took each bundle and placed inside the empty basket.
