DIY FIRECRACKER PICKS

Hey friends!

I am sharing today my 4th of July arrangement!  I will be showing you how I made the firecracker picks that I placed in the arrangement.  This is the last of my DIY to share with you.  Tomorrow will be the time for me to show my July 4th decorated Mantel with everyone!  I am so excited about that!  So please come here tomorrow so you won’t miss the blog when I put all my DIYs together.

What I used to make the firecrackers:

  • paper towel tube or two toilet paper tube
  • construction paper
  • scissors
  • pencil
  • ruler
  • hot glue or tape
  • Dollar Tree holiday headband

Let’s get started!

First we need to make the body of the firecracker.

Take your tube and scissors and cut the tube in half.  If you are using two toilet paper tubes you are ahead of the game!

Find the center and cut the tube in half.

I am using a piece of scrap paper to rap the tube.  You can use wrapping paper or construction paper which ever you like.

I rolled and marked where the paper came together.

I drew a line where I marked.

I measured for the length and made my cut line.

I cut the lines I just made.

I wrapped the paper around the tube.  I taped the paper together, but you could also use hot glue or regular glue to keep the paper together.

Take your headband.

Cut it in half with a pair of wire snips.

Trim the two pieces to where the topper is in the center and the piece is about 2 inches long.

Hot glue each end of the 2 inch piece.

Place it at the top of your tube’s body.

Do the same with the other one.  That’s it!  You have two fun picks to decorate how ever you like.

I placed to doll pins at the bottom so I can add them to my 4th of July’s arrangement.

To make the arrangement:

  • 1 red flower and star bundle
  • 1 package of curly ribbon (2 in a pack)
  • 2 metal star wands
  • 1 package of flags (3 in a pack)
  • 1 spider plant bundle.

Arranged all of it in my thrift store silver tea server.  This was my most costly DIY for the challenge.  $7.00 for the arrangement (not including my tea pot).

Remember to come back here tomorrow to see the revealing!
