Hey there! Today is the Under $10 on the 10th hop, here we share how you can create something under $10. The blog hop is hosted each month by Tammy over at Patina and Paint, the theme of today’s blog is July 4th. Never too early to start crafting for the red, white and blue! At the bottom of my page, I will have all the blogger’s projects linked for you.
I have some cute Fall ghost plant stakes up in the attic that I forgot about; however, it gave me the inspiration for today’s theme.
This craft will call for some power tools, I used a jig saw to cut them out, a sander to smooth the edges and a drill to drill the holes for the dowel rods. I know you can do it or maybe know someone that you could ask to cut them out for you. I will give you the pattern all you have to do is size it to the size of your choice.
Click on the pattern and save to your computer, print and enlarge it to the size of your choice.
July 4th Plant Stake Decoration Tutorial
Supplies:
- 1-inch-thick board for hat and two hands
- 4 dowel rods (Dollar Tree)
- red, white, blue and black craft paint
- waterproof sealer
- jig saw, sander and drill
- wood glue
- pencil sharpener
Step 1 ~ Cut outs
- Print out the pattern I supplied
- Trace it out onto your board
- Cut the patterns out
- Sand the edges smooth
- To the center of the hat, side of the bottom drill two holes centering them, one hole centered at the wrist of the hand.
Step 2 ~
Draw out the pattern you desire on the hat and both hands.
Step 3 ~
Paint your hat and hands.
Step 4 ~
Using a pencil sharpener, sharpen one end of the dowel rod. Cut the dowel rods shorter for the hands.
Step 5 ~
Add wood glue to the drilled holes and place the flat part of the dowel rods into the holes.
Step 6~
Use a waterproof sealer to your pieces.
Now enjoy your cute 4th of July decor in your garden. Stick it into your plant with the sharpened dowel rods.
I tried it in my fern, but the fern was too big, the hands were lost in the fern.
This would be so cute in a pot of white flowers or red flowers, wouldn’t it?
