CRAFT ROOM REFRESH – WEEK 4

If you are new here, welcome to the last part of my Craft Room Project!

I am wrapping up week 4 of the craft room which means I should be able to share the reveal next Friday! And while I’ve been madly painting, I have been changing a lot of what I already have. Of course, what is Decorate with Tip and More without painting?

In case you need to get up to speed on what we are doing …

Craft Room PlansWeek 1Week 2Week 3 – Week 4 (this blog post)

On to my week, such as it has been!  I’ve been focused on getting all the rest of the furniture painted, the work desk, my stool, trash can and finishing up the wallpaper this week.  I did manage to find time to work on some decor pieces that needed to be painted as well.

First up was finishing the paint wall with the wallpaper.

A delay in getting the wallpaper done because I had to wait for the third roll, but I am happy to report, the wall is all papered and I love it!  I was able to hang the three shelves up on the wall too.

With the left-over wallpaper, I wrapped my decorative storage boxes.  Pretty cute how they turned out and they bring the colorful wallpaper over to the other wall.

Next, I started painting my work desk.

I used the same Rust-oleum Home paint in black.  Also, painted my stool and trash can with the same paint.

  • Sanded the entire desk, trash can and stool with 120 grit sandpaper.
  • Cleaned the entire pieces to remove any sand dust and grime.
  • Primed with a black tint Zinsser 123 Bullseye primer.
  • Painted two coats of black paint.
  • Sealed with Polyurethane.

To view how I built the workspace desk you can view it here:  Craft Room Workstation Tutorial

For the top of my desk, I went with a stain finish look.  Since my top is MDF it isn’t stainable after I sanded it.  So, I grabbed my Retique It Liquid Wood and gave the top two coats of the liquid wood.

Before I did the desktop, I gave this lattice jar two coats of the liquid wood as well.  This was sitting on the paint station.

After the desktop dried, I applied two colors of stain.  The main stain I used Weathered Oak by Minwax and streak with Provincial.

Applied weathered oak stain all over the surface, after sweeping the stain with a handheld broom several times, I streaked with provincial to give it a little more detailing.

I love how the workstation turned out.

The last few things I did towards the end of the week was painting another wall grouping.  Do you remember the wall grouping I had up above my candle trunks?

I modified the shelving units to hold my hot glue gun and drill.  I painted them black as well as some other decor pieces.

Here is the craft room after I finished my projects for the week.

I keep trucking away to get things done so I can share the craft room next Friday.  During next week I will be gathering up the decor to see if I need to change or modify any and then clean and shampoo the carpets, by Friday the room should be ready to show.  I promise if I have to stay up all night to finish it Thursday!!
