Hey everyone!
I am so excited to be sharing this DIY with you! I have been searching for an idea to go on my wall in our master bedroom for such a long time. I finally found the perfect wall decor. Are you ready to read about another fun DIY?
I really was amazed on how easy this was. I know I say this all the time, but honestly, this is so easy! I found on etsy something similar for my friends that doesn’t want to do a DIY, but would like to have the chevron arrows in their home. HERE is the chevron arrows you could purchase.
I am learning how to use power tools so I don’t have to bother my sweet husband on all my DIY projects. I haven’t mastered how to cut a 45 degree angle, but I can cut with a circular saw now! This is so easy I promise you will be able to make your own too!
Let’s get started!
Items you need to make 3 chevron arrows.
- Six – 17″ long 1 x 4 boards
- carpenter square
- pencil
- safety goggles
- circular saw
- paint and finish glaze
- paint brush
- painters tape
- clean cloth
- 6 corner brackets with screws
- 3 saw tooth picture brackets with nails
- screw driver
- hammer
First thing I did was take my carpenter’s square making 2 angle marks on each end of the board. Make sure both angles are going the same way on the board.
- 3 boards making the angles starting at the top left corner. The other end starting at the bottom right corner going up to the left.
- 3 boards making the angles starting at the bottom left corner going up to the right. The other side top corner going down to the left.
If you know how to miter then go for it….me I am going to grab the circular saw and just cut on the lines.
Placing the two different angles together making an arrow.
There are several things you can do to this. Leave as is, you could stain or paint I am going to paint and then apply a glaze.
Taking my Cashew chalk paint and painting all 6 pieces.
I didn’t paint the back side just the sides and top portions.
After the paint dried I glazed the pieces.
I wanted a little touch of white on the arrows. I measured 2 inches on one side edge all the way down the side, using painters tape to tape off the area. I painted the edge with white chalk paint. Painted 2 coats. Removed the tape.
Doesn’t it look great with just a touch of white? You could paint it any color.
I applied a coat of finishing wax.
Now it is time to put the arrows together.
I don’t know if it was my lucky day or what, but when I went into Lowe’s to grab brackets for the arrows. I found the corner brackets on clearance for 27¢ a pack of 4! 🙂 I had the boards in our shed and paint on hand, so this project has only cost me 59¢! Jackpot!!!!
I will be attaching 2 corner brackets to each arrow. I added a saw tooth picture hanger to the top of each arrow to hang on the wall.
And that’s it, you are done 🙂 Now you can place them on your wall! I will be sharing with you where I will be placing mine on Friday when I share with you the revealing of the room challenge. I will share with you all of my friend’s room challenges also! Should be fun to see. Please come by and visit me and see what I changed up in our Master bedroom!
