DIY SMALL COTTON BLOOMS AND LAMB’S EAR WREATH

Hello everyone!

Another DIY for you today!  Actually I was asked if I would do another cotton bloom wreath.  I love when someone ask for me to make something.

While I was visiting our son a couple weekends ago we stopped in at the Dollar Tree in his city.  They had small grapevine wreaths.  I haven’t seen those often there so I grabbed up all they had.  I am so glad I did because I am needing one for today’s DIY.

I thought I would make a full cotton bloom wreath around the fall season, but wanted to make a cotton bloom with some greenery.   As I was looking for inspiration I saw a floral made with cotton stems and lamb’s ear.   It was really pretty and I thought a wreath made up with cotton and lamb’s ear would look awesome together.

Here is what I will be using for my wreath

  • 1 small grapevine wreath
  • cotton balls
  • hot glue and glue gun
  • scissors
  • 2 stem of lamb’s ear
  • several pieces of pecan shells

Let’s get started!

First thing I will be making are the cotton blooms.  I have made these before but I will be doing something a little different for this bloom.

I will be making 18 cotton blooms.

I counted out 36 cotton balls.

I cut each cotton ball in half.

Take 4 cut pieces and now glue the 4 pieces together.  The reason I cut and then glued together is because when looking at real cotton blooms they have 4 sections to them.

See now why I cut two cotton balls and glued them together?

Take 4 pecan shell pieces and glue them on the spaces between the cotton.

I made 18 cotton blooms.

Taking one of my Dollar Tree grapevine wreath, I will be gluing the blooms to the wreath.

Now to add the greenery to the wreath.

I popped off the pieces from the stem.  Here are the different pieces I will be using.

I took each piece and hot glued around the cotton blooms.

Here are a few ways I attached the pieces to the wreath.

I just kept filling the wreath with the lamb’s ear until it was full.

I love how the cotton blooms look along with the lamb’s ear.

Just in case you want to know where I purchased the items for this wreath.

  • Grapevine wreath – Dollar Tree = $1.00
  • Bag of 100 cotton balls – Dollar Tree = $1.00
  • Pecan pieces – in a neighbors yard = $0.00
  • Lamb’s ear stem – Hobby Lobby = $2.99 a stem (I used 2 stems)

The whole wreath cost me less than $10.00 and about 2 hours to make.

One more look.

Don’t you think it looks cute?  It’s definitely a fun little wreath to make.   Keep in mind if you don’t want to use greenery you could just keep adding the cotton bloom to the wreath.  Do whatever you like that’s the best part of DIY!  It was a perfect afternoon project.
