Hello friends! I wanted to share with you how I made this garland out of yarn. This garland of hearts and pom-pom will be displayed on my fireplace for Valentine’s.
I noticed that using garlands this winter is very popular. I have seen a lot of different styles and many different ways it is place as decor in the home.
The only cost I have in making this garland was in the yarn. I made this while watching TV. It was very easy. The only hard part was cutting out the hearts from the cardboard. I didn’t have a pom-pom maker so I made my own by using my hand.
Let’s get started on how you can make a popular garland for yourself!
Items you need
- 2 colors of bulky yarn. I used Lion Brand Yarn Nature choice in the color pink and white. I purchased at Wal-mart
- card board to cut 6 hearts
- scissors
- tape
Cut out 6 hearts. Size is up to you.
Get your yarn
tape the end of the yarn to one of the hearts
Now start wrapping the yarn until you cover the cardboard. (I used the white in the photo because it was brighter on the cardboard).
When you have covered all the cardboard with the yarn, cut the yarn a little longer to make a loop. Tuck in the loop through the wrap yarn and tie it off.
After tucking the loop I went back and fixed the wrapped yarn to cover the cardboard
Now that we have the hearts finished……Let’s get started making the pom-poms.
I made 7 pom-poms
I used my 4 fingers ad wrapped the yarn 30 times around. Depending on how large your hearts are will be how large your pom-poms should be.
Take a piece of yarn the length you want your garland to be. Tape each end of the yarn so it won’t frey. Start adding the hearts and pom-pom to the piece of yarn. With the end of the yarn thread through the pom-pom’s middle and then thread through the loop of the heart.
Here is my garland. Hanging by itself
Here it is styled with my floor lanterns
This is so cute and can be used for an every day decor. I will be using this in my Valentine’s decor….I am loving it on my lantern. What do you think?
Have a great Wednesday friends!
Stay Strong and Stay Blessed!
xoxo

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
