I was cleaning up my craft closet and found some left over yarn and a wire heart wreath form, I wanted to use both of them for my challenge this month. So here is what I did with the two items.
If you like to make a chunky heart wreath here are the items you would need.
- 1 bundle of chunky yarn
- wire heart wreath form
- scissors

Directions to make your heart wreath.
1. Make a slip knot at the end of your yarn. Your loop should only be 1 ½ inches long. Keep it small, just large enough to thread the loop through.
2. Starting your first stitch at the bottom of your heart form. Make sure that your working yarn is to the left of your loop.
Your first stitch will be looping the working yarn through the back of the center of the heart form.
3. Pull the loop up to the slip knot.
4. Take the working yarn and loop through both loops ending with one loop.
That’s the only stitch you will have to learn. Do the same step all around the form.
Your first stitch will look like this, beginning to make your second stitch.
You will do those 4 steps:
- Bring your working yarn through the center of your wreath
- Pull the loop up to the top loop
- thread the working yarn through the two loops
When the form is getting tight pull the yarn down to give you more room.
To tie off, cut the working yarn and thread through the last loop. Tie around the frame and work the end of the yarn through the wreath.
Since there are two points on the heart it’s hard to keep those covered with yarn. I tied a piece of yarn on the point and tucked in the ends.
The finish look.
I am going to add an arrow to my heart and place it on my ladder along with my DIY heart and pompom garland. To check out the tutorials on my ladder and garland you can click here ⇒ DIY BLANKET LADDER & DIY HEART AND POMPOM GARLAND or MY HEART AND POMPOM GARLAND REVAMP.
If you like my chunky heart wreath pin to your Pinterest account until you want to make one for yourself. You can do the same steps with any sharp wreath form.
