It’s time for the Creative Craft blog hop!!  Sara, Birdz of a Feather is our host and does a great job rounding up some awesome crafters each month.  I will share each creator’s craft at the bottom of my page.

My craft will be a faux wooden bead wreath from ping pong balls and a wire wreath form I purchased in Dollar Tree.

Faux Wooden Bead Wreath Tutorial

I started with 7 packages of six ping pong balls and a wire wreath form.

♦ Prep the wire wreath form

Take the wreath form and a pair of wire snips.

Cut off the first and third wire from the form.  Keeping two sections fully intact.  I sniped at the wire section strip.

This is how the form should look after cutting the two wires off.

Clean the two wires by removing the pieces from the two removed wires.

To thread the ping pong balls onto the wreath, cut one end of the middle wire from the full section of the wreath.

♦ Adding ping pong balls.

With a lighter heat the end of the wire and poke the wire through the ping pong ball.

Continue to thread the ping pong balls on the wire.

Cutting the outside wire, be sure to cut on the opposite side of the full section.

Thread ping pong balls on the wire the same way.

To connect the cut wires back to the form.  Loop over the end of each wire over the full section, bend to lock.

♦ Tie the two ball wires together.

To keep the two wire rings from separating, wire the two rings together with floral wire.

I divided my wreath in three sections and wrapped wire to both rings.

The wreath form is complete, it should look like this.

♦ Create the look of wooden beads

Spray paint the entire wreath with Dover White by Krylon.

Let it dry thoroughly.

With a chip brush and Golden Oak stain, add one coat to the painted balls.

As it dries, brush long strokes over all the balls creating brush marks.

It should look like this.

Let dry.

♦ Add greenery.

Secure floral foam to the full wreath section with floral wire.

Added the greenery by poking the stems into the foam.

So, what do you think?  Does it look like wooden beads?  I am so happy with the way the wreath looks, but mostly Kristin (who I made it for) loves it.

Thanks for stopping by and reading how I created my wreath, make sure you check out the other crafters and what they created for us.
