Summer Wreath Tutorial

I haven’t made a wreath here on my blog in a while.  I think it’s time!  For my wreath I grabbed several stems from Walmart to make my wreath.  I had a few greenery stems on hand I will be using as well.

I am using a 16-inch grapevine wreath.  You can glue your stem pieces into your grapevine wreath for security, but I like to reuse my grapevines over again so I will not be using hot glue.

Building the base with greenery

I like to start with greenery to form a base for my wreath.  The first stem will be Eucalyptus.  I used 8 stem pieces.  Starting at the top, sticking the stems into the grapevine all the way around the wreath.

Second stem will be two Hobby Lobby Fern bundles.

Remove each stem from the bundle.

With the fern pieces I placed three pieces, outside, inside and middle.  I did this all the way around the wreath.

It looks rough but bear with me it will look better as we layer the greenery.

Adding two bundles of Hobby Lobby’s Dill Bush.

Cut each stem from the bundle.

Place a stem to the center top of the wreath working your way around the wreath.

Layering the greenery gives you texture with different shades of green.

Adding Color

Now to start adding color to the wreath.  I found some pretty flower bundles and stems from Walmart.  Starting with one bundle a Mini Ranunculus Bush.

Like the greenery, cut each stem off the bundle.

I placed the flower stem the same way, one on the outside, inside and middle.

The next Walmart flower stems I use are two Dalhlia Picks.  Same as all, cut off each stem from the bundle.

Placing the stems the same way, outside, inside and middle.

Using one bundle of Walmart’s Sedum bundle.

I know I write like a scratched record skipping.  Cut each stem off of the bundle, place in the wreath, outside, inside and middle.

Changing up the color with two cute Walmart Billy Button Picks.

I love the pink and blue together in the wreath.

One last flowering stem will be two Walmart Heather Mixed Picks.

I like the wispy look of the heather stems along with the fern leaves.

One more texture before I stop adding stems.  I added sprigs of lamb’s tongue.

It seemed like a lot of stems, but the Walmart picks were mostly under a dollar.

I am going to stop adding stems to the wreath, I like how it looks.

The last touch will be a bow.  Made a bow out of a hot pink with white polka dots ribbon purchased in Walmart and a navy and white check ribbon I had on hand.

Placed the bow on the wreath making it hang from one side.

I think it will look great on a light blue door; don’t you think?
