Hey there!
I know that in a lot of show homes you rarely ever see ceiling fans and most of the designers remove them for a beautiful light fixture. But in the real world we all use them. Right?
The ceiling fan I am sharing with you today is in my daughter’s Master Suite.
Here is the original look.
Since the fan is actually fairly new and in great condition she didn’t want to replace it. I asked her if I could give it a makeover? I gave her my idea and she said DO IT! You don’t have to tell me twice to do something. 🙂
Let’s get started!
First thing I did was had my husband remove the blades from the brackets. We didn’t know they were interchangeable. White on one side and a light faux wood grain on the other. I decided that I would revamp the wood gain side just in case she wanted to switch it back to all white in the future.
If you are thinking why just not leave it like that…..we wanted it to be a richer color and more rustic.
I used my mineral gray chalk paint and applied one coat on each blade.
As I painted I laid them on a piece of cardboard until I painted all 5 blades.
I wanted to give some faux dark wood grain to the board. I added Truffle brown in random streaks and upside Vs.
Using the same brush I lightly brushed the brown blending it in.
Letting the paint dry for about an hour. I applied a coat of Minwax.
My husband attached the painted blades back on the brackets.
It’s a very small, easy change that freshened up the space and saved money.
Thanks for stopping by. I don’t know about you, but I think it looks so much better with the painted blades. We are updating the whole Master Suite, well actually all of her home. Stay tune for more makeovers. I will be sharing with you her Master Suite Before & After pictures soon!

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Terrie, what a great inexpensive way to update your fan! I love the idea! This turned out really nice! Beautiful color too! 🙂
Love this! So many people have to have these ceiling fans for a variety of reasons so why not make them cute?
I feel the same way you do Tara. Thanks for stopping by. Always so sweet to see you!
