Who doesn’t love a Dollar Tree makeover, not only is this one simple but it is super cute!

Here is the Dollar Tree sign I will be giving a makeover to today!  I had this metal envelope in my stash for a while now, finally pulling it out to use.

Let me go back a little bit, my craft was inspired by a Hobby Lobby frame I gave a makeover during the Christmas season two years ago.  To see my makeover, you can view it by clicking DIY Christmas Sign.

I thought the frame would be a perfect staple piece to use with changeable signs on the wreath.

I removed the Christmas sign by just unwired the sign from the metal wreath.

Now let’s make a Valentine’s theme sign to place on the wreath.  Removing the twine from the metal sign.

The sign looks nice as is, but I want to give it a coat of red paint.  I spray painted the envelope with Rust-Oleum Cardinal Red, it only took one good coat.

Next, I wanted to give it some details.  Painted the heart in the center, white.

To the entire envelope I decided to add white dots.  I used an end of a paint brush, dipped it into paint and applied it to the envelope.

It end up looking like this.

To hang my sign onto the wreath, I added heavy duty wire to the holes.

Embellishments

I painted three mini beads, one red, one white and the last one black.

I created a little boutonniere out of greenery, beads, a mini rose and baby’s breath.

Making a messy bow out of red, black and white ribbons.

Let’s put it all together.

To one of the wires, I thread the wire through the three colored beads.

I attached the wires to the metal wreath by twisting the wire around the back wire of the wreath.

I added the ribbon to the flower bundle and attached it with twine to the wire with the beads.

Once that was done, I added the wreath to the hook on the frame.  It looks so cute!

This was so easy to make, you could put your own creativity to it.  I hope I gave you some Valentine’s decor inspiration.  For more inspiration make sure to check out the other girl’s creative craft.

    1. Thanks, Donna. I don’t have it up yet but will by the end of the week on our front stoop. I don’t decorate until Easter after Christmas, I guess you can say I need a break after back-to-back Fall and Christmas decorating. 🙂

    1. Thanks you Cecilia! I use to say that about Dollar Tree but Dollar General is really stepping up their crafts for only $1. You need to check them out as well.

  1. You had me at “Dollar Tree” and “polka dots!” Love this transformation into a beautiful Valentine creation. It reminds me that it has been a bit since I visited my nearby Dollar Tree. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and a Happy 2024! Keep up your magic makeovers! Shelia

  2. I love this Terrie, super cute! What a great idea to use the white metal wreath and change out the signs seasonally! The heart envelope is perfect for Valentine’s Day, and I love the polka dots~ great craft!

    1. Thank you Jenna. If I had your skills in painting I would be happier with my dots. 🙂 Even not perfect it still looks cute. Thank you again my sweet friend!

  3. I love how you turned a plain metal envelope into such a beauty with just a little paint, Terrie. The boutineer is the perfect finishing touch. Great project!
