Who doesn’t love a Dollar Tree makeover, not only is this one simple but it is super cute!
Here is the Dollar Tree sign I will be giving a makeover to today! I had this metal envelope in my stash for a while now, finally pulling it out to use.
Let me go back a little bit, my craft was inspired by a Hobby Lobby frame I gave a makeover during the Christmas season two years ago. To see my makeover, you can view it by clicking DIY Christmas Sign.
I thought the frame would be a perfect staple piece to use with changeable signs on the wreath.
I removed the Christmas sign by just unwired the sign from the metal wreath.
Now let’s make a Valentine’s theme sign to place on the wreath. Removing the twine from the metal sign.
The sign looks nice as is, but I want to give it a coat of red paint. I spray painted the envelope with Rust-Oleum Cardinal Red, it only took one good coat.
Next, I wanted to give it some details. Painted the heart in the center, white.
To the entire envelope I decided to add white dots. I used an end of a paint brush, dipped it into paint and applied it to the envelope.
It end up looking like this.
To hang my sign onto the wreath, I added heavy duty wire to the holes.
Embellishments
I painted three mini beads, one red, one white and the last one black.
I created a little boutonniere out of greenery, beads, a mini rose and baby’s breath.
Making a messy bow out of red, black and white ribbons.
Let’s put it all together.
To one of the wires, I thread the wire through the three colored beads.
I attached the wires to the metal wreath by twisting the wire around the back wire of the wreath.
I added the ribbon to the flower bundle and attached it with twine to the wire with the beads.
Once that was done, I added the wreath to the hook on the frame. It looks so cute!
This was so easy to make, you could put your own creativity to it. I hope I gave you some Valentine’s decor inspiration. For more inspiration make sure to check out the other girl’s creative craft.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Your sign makeover looks awesome! You made a Dollar Tree item look expensive. Pinned. (Sorry, I just realized I didn’t comment from the hop.)
Love it! Perfect for Valentine’s and very creative. I don’t have any Valentine’s decor up yet but you have gotten me thinking about it. A trip to Dollar Tree may be in my future.
Thanks, Donna. I don’t have it up yet but will by the end of the week on our front stoop. I don’t decorate until Easter after Christmas, I guess you can say I need a break after back-to-back Fall and Christmas decorating. 🙂
That is very cute, I love the look! Good job!
Thank you Gina. It is always fun pulling out red and white, even when I just put it up from Christmas. 🙂
What a charming makeover, Terrie! You can’t beat a dollar store crafts! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks you Cecilia! I use to say that about Dollar Tree but Dollar General is really stepping up their crafts for only $1. You need to check them out as well.
You had me at “Dollar Tree” and “polka dots!” Love this transformation into a beautiful Valentine creation. It reminds me that it has been a bit since I visited my nearby Dollar Tree. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and a Happy 2024! Keep up your magic makeovers! Shelia
I went in Dollar Tree for another project, I had everything in hand for this one. They have three seasons out in our store. Valentine, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. So many things to look at. I hope you get to yours soon, you know that place, it will be sold out soon! Thank you so much!
I love this Terrie, super cute! What a great idea to use the white metal wreath and change out the signs seasonally! The heart envelope is perfect for Valentine’s Day, and I love the polka dots~ great craft!
Thank you Jenna. If I had your skills in painting I would be happier with my dots. 🙂 Even not perfect it still looks cute. Thank you again my sweet friend!
Oh my, Terrie! What a transformation! Your Valentine wreath is too cute and adorable!
Thanks Gail. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Love changing things to create something cute and simple.
I love how you turned a plain metal envelope into such a beauty with just a little paint, Terrie. The boutineer is the perfect finishing touch. Great project!
I always say, the power of paint. 🙂 Thanks Ann, glad you like it. So fun hopping with you!
Wow Terrie! That is so striking! I sure am inspired, and to think it came from the dollar store?
Thanks, Sara, for your sweet comment and hosting such a fun hop each month. It was so fun working on a craft, it’s been a while since I created one!
