DIY EUCALYPTUS CANDLE HOLDER WREATH

Hey there, welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Here on my blog I share how you can decorate your home on a budget.  I have put all my Easter decorations away and thought before I start bringing in all of my every day decorations you might want to decorate along.  What I would like to do is take each area and share some of my DIYs I will be placing in the space and how I style it.  The first area would be the mantel.  I know that some of you have asked me several times “what if the television is up on the mantel how would you style your mantel?”  Well….no problem.  I gathered all my DIYer friends to share how to decorate around you TV.  It will be coming on my next DIY Challenge, May 6th.  I can’t wait for you to see all of the inspirations we will share.

My mantel is bare now.  I am keeping my hutch doors up on my mantel.  I decided to distressed it heavier.  This is a DIY I shared on a previous tutorial.  To see the tutorial on the windows on my mantel you can go here ⇒ CABINET DOOR MAKEOVER

I am keeping my candle holders on my mantel.   Here are the candle holders I have ⇒ CANDLEHOLDER – SET OF THREE.

On the candle holders I want to add a candle ring.  Which brings me to the first DIY on the mantel. Still not going out to buy supplies, I am using what I have on hand.  Below I am sharing the tutorial on how to make a candle holder ring out of artificial eucalyptus.  I have a huge amount of eucalyptus. I placed half of it in a basket on my kitchen counter top.  I am going to use some for the candle wreaths.

Making an eucalyptus candle holder ring

Making the base for the wreath

I made my base out of a piece of empty flower wire stem or you could use a mini grapevine wreath, I am making a base because I don’t have a mini grapevine wreath.  I used a long piece of wired stem and formed it into a circle.  You want to make it a little larger than a candle.  Twist your stem together to connect the ends together to form a circle.  I also used a piece of floral wire to secure the ends together.

Adding greenery to the base

Taking my bundle of Eucalyptus cutting the bundles off the stem.  My eucalyptus stem had 3 leaves to each section.  It took about 20 little sections to form my wreath.

I applied hot glue to the end of my bundle, gluing it to the form hold while it cooled.  I wrapped floral tape around the stem and base.  Keep the tape attached for the next bundle.

I kept adding my greenery to the base with hot glue and wrapping it with the floral tape.

This is what my wreath looks like after the last piece was attached.

This is what the back side of my ring looks like.

It didn’t take me long to make my wreath.  I made 3 candle rings for each candle holder up on my mantel.

I think adding greenery to the candle holders looks great, don’t you?   I can use the wreaths several different ways.  If you don’t want to add them to a candle holder, you can sit the ring on a table and add a votive candle inside.

I found a similar wreath on Etsy for you  EUCALYPTUS CANDLE RING.  Making your own gives you great savings! 🙂

  1. This is beautiful! I love how you added the eucalyptus to the ring with the tape. It looks professionally done! Where did you get the eucalyptus?

    1. Thanks Michelle. It really looks like a plastic ring form.

I got this big bundle of eucalyptus in a basket a long long time ago. I had it up on my cabinets in the kitchen. Was tired of dusting it off so I brought it down. I place some on my counter top. I purchased this from a craft fair way back when. But Hobby Lobby has stems very similar very reasonable.

  2. Love your sweet little wreaths, Terrie!! I currently don’t have any eucalyptus but I’m pinning for later!! They add that perfect touch of spring to any space!!

    1. You could use any type of greenery. I love eucalyptus but lamb’s ear would look great too. Thanks for saving this Christine. Hope you had a wonderful and blessed Easter!

  3. Great project Terrie as well as tutorial. I have tons of eucalyptus too.

Only bummer no floral tape and nothing is open in NJ.

Hope you had a nice Easter 🐣

    1. Well shoot! Maybe save this tutorial for later when you can get the tape. It really needs to be used to help hold the pieces together. Thanks Cindy. Hope you have an awesome week!
