I decided to do a lady bug wreath, I couldn’t find a lady bug anywhere to place on my wreath, so I pulled out my creative side to make my own lady bug decoration.  I had this old Dollar Tree plaque that I used for a Christmas wreath two years ago. {CHRISTMAS WREATH} Since then the wording fell off, you know me well enough to know I kept it. 🙂  This will work perfect for my lady bug.  I hand drew a lady bug to trace out on to the board.

I took my pencil and scribbled on the back of the lady bug pattern and traced it out on to the Christmas board.

To cut the lady bug out I used a jigsaw, to remove the Christmas print from the board I used my hand sander.  I drilled one hole on the left side of the lady bug to run a wire through to attach the lady bug to the wreath.

I drew the details for the lady bug on the board.

Painted the lady bug red and black with black polka dots and white highlights.

Since the lady bug will be outside I applied two coats of brush on sealer.

Now I have a cute lady bug for my wreath, I am using the grapevine wreath I always use to decorate our front door.

I placed two pipe cleaners in the drilled holes to attach the lady bug to the wreath.

For this wreath I will be using three Dollar Tree floral bundles, fiscus leaves, spider plant, poppies and bellflowers.  I will be using leaves from my Fiscus tree as well.  I have been using those a lot in my wreaths since I revamped my tree.

I placed the fiscus branches all around the lady bug, sticking the stems into the wreath.

Cutting the spider plant into separate pieces, placing them into the wreath .

Adding the two bundles of flowers, cutting them off the bundle as well.

I made a loop bow with three types of ribbon, red polka dots, black stripes and a red gingham.

I think my DIY lady bug looks adorable on the wreath, don’t you?

Now to hang it up on our front door.

    1. Thank you Donna! I looked every where to find a lady bug to put on my wreath. Glad I couldn’t find one, made me create one out of things I had. Thanks for pinning my friend.

    1. Thank you Ann. It does make me feel like warmer weather is on it’s way. If only I can clean off the porch, pollen is still thick here where we live.

  1. You are so talented Terrie. Love watching your videos and waiting to see what you will create next. Today when I opened your email and it was the cute ladybug, I’m not kidding I looked down on my leg and there was a real ladybug crawling on me. First one I’ve seen this season. Made me smile!!

    1. Joan, I haven’t seen one as of yet, but I know they are out. We have so much pollen I think even the bugs stay clear of it.

I am so happy to hear you come over and watch my videos and read my post, you made my day. Have a wonderful day my friend.

  2. I love the ladybug wreath you’ve made, Terrie!!! I really love how you repurpose things you’ve already made into other things. Total cost = $0! 🙂 I hope you enjoy your wreath all season long and it’s so cute, you could reuse it again next year. Joining the party very late (wasn’t sure I could get what I needed done in time).

    Happy spring hugs to you,
    Barb 🙂

  3. Terrie this is just the cutest wreath! I love how it just screams summer. Great job in making it and for sharing it with us. Where did you buy your ribbon? I have been looking for some like that for a few weeks and haven’t found any. LOVE everything about your wreath!
