Hey there! Today we are decorating the blanket ladder and the area around it in the Family room. Off season I normally just fold a blanket over one of the steps, but when it comes to the holiday it’s always fun to take it up a notch or two.
If you are considering making a blanket ladder, here are the two I made. I can lead you to the tutorials by clicking on one of the titles here SIMPLE BLANKET LADDER – ANGLED BLANKET LADDER.

Before we get to how I decorated the blanket ladder for Christmas this year I wanted to share how I decorated it last year.
I have just started my Christmas decorating so I don’t have the entire wall decorated as of yet, but I will soon. Let me show you how I decorated my blanket ladder for Christmas 2020.
This Christmas season I kept it simple. I added a DIY star garland to the side of my ladder, if the title of my blog didn’t give you a hint of what I am going to be sharing.
For the garland I am using 9 twine star ornaments I bought several years ago after Christmas because they were on clearance. I have never used them until now.
I painted the stars red, green and turquoise, 3 stars of each colors.
Once the stars were dry, I took my twine and cut a piece the length I wanted the garland to be. I wanted my garland to be 67 inches long.
To tie the stars onto the twine I used the loop of the ornament, cut the loop and tied the ornament onto the twine. I spaced the ornaments 7 inches apart.
I placed it on the side of my ladder. It looks perfect there.
I folded a warm and cozy red buffalo print blanket to complete the decorations on the ladder.
Around the ladder, I sat two lanterns, one on the floor and one on the bench. On the bench next to the lantern I added an undecorated Christmas tree sitting in a basket. I didn’t remove the little basket under the bench because I like how it looks with the tree’s basket.
Let’s see how it looks when I plug in the lights and turn the candles on.
Like I said earlier I kept it pretty simple this year, next up will be the dresser and mirror. Little by little the room is starting to look like Christmas!! ♥♥

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Terrie,
Love this and the simple look. Sometimes less is more. Beautiful my friend.
Love the lanterns too.
