DIY STARS AND STRIPES DOLLAR TREE BANDANNA PILLOWS!

Hey there!

Still sharing my July 4th challenge over here.  I want to share with you today how I made two 4th of July throw pillow covers with Dollar Tree’s bandannas.  Now…I know that some of you love having pillows as much as I do, but you don’t have a sewing machine or you just don’t have the time to sew the pillows up by hand.  Well….I aim to please.   HERE is a pillow that you can purchase similar to the one I am about to make.

What you will need to make the pillow covers:

  • 2 packages of Dollar Tree 2 pkg bandannas.  One with the American flag and the other one is either a red or blue bandanna.
  • sewing machine or whatever you want to stitch up your sems
  • straight pins
  • needle and thread

Let’s get started!

Take the bandannas off the cardboard and pull just the flag bandanna out.

Lay them flat putting the brighter side facing each other.  Pin together and stitch around the edge leaving a 10″ opening at the bottom of your square. (This will give you enough space to slip the pillow inside after you turn it inside out).

Turn the pillow inside – out and place your pillow inside the pillow cover.  I did a slip stitch to close the opening.  That’s it!  You have yourself a cute pillow.

I took the two left over bandannas and made an oblong pillow too.  Doing the same type of technique.

Hope you come back tomorrow to see what else I have made for my Dollar Tree challenge.

    1. I think making or buying covers is not only inexpensive, but you can store them easier. I started buying covers around Christmas and the storing was so much simpler.
