Hey there! Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip! Today’s the $10 on the 10th Blog Hop, this month’s theme will be all about Christmas! I am joining in with some talented bloggers to share some Christmas inspiration for under $10. At the bottom of my page I will have all of the participant’s links for you!
I decided to take some left over MDF from my craft room project and make 6 Christmas trees to share with you. Very easy and fun craft to make.

Since I am using what I have on hand this project will cost $0 for me to make, but for those that don’t have wood on hand you can easily go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and purchase a 4 x 4 piece of plywood for less than $7.00.
To make my trees I used a ruler and made skinny tringles on my board. I made two of each size.
- Tall tree – bottom line 8 inches (widest part) and the height 24 inches
- Medium tree – bottom line 6 inches (widest part) and the height 18 inches
- Small tree – bottom line 4 inches (widest part) and the height 14 inches
Using a circular saw I cut on the lines.
I cut a piece of 2″ x 1″ board to attach to the back of the tree with a nail gun.
This creates stands for my Christmas trees.
I sanded all the edges, front and back of the trees, took a clean damp cloth and cleaned the trees.
I painted the trees with red, green and white craft paint. Giving the trees two coats.
Using an eraser for the polka dots is a great way to create dots evenly. Dab the eraser in the paint and then dab it onto your tree.
For the top of the tree I am using Dollar Tree’s wooden stars.
Here’s how I added the stars to the top of each tree.
- Using my snippers I cut a notch in between two of the star’s points.
- adding some wood glue to the notch
- I placed the star on the tree making sure the point of the tree sat inside the notch.
- let the glue dry.
I added one coat of Minwax Polyurethane to all my trees.
And that’s it! I placed the trees on a table behind the sofa.
