As I decorate for Easter in the family room, I am needing a cute riser to place a bunny on. Taking a few Dollar Tree items, I made the perfect one, if you are interested in making one for yourself, keep on reading. I do have the tutorial in a video as well, to watch you can go to either my Facebook page or my YouTube channel.
Riser Tutorial
- 2 wooden Crafter Square plaques. I used the oval shape.
- 2 strands of Crafter Square string beads. I used one string and one extra bead.
- 4 larger wooden beads, I had on hand.
- stain, paint, wood glue and hot glue.
Remove the sting from the cut outs.
Fill in the holes with painter’s putty, let dry.
Sand and wipe off all the sand dust with a damp cloth.
Give the two plaques one coat of stain. I used Minwax, Special Walnut.
To give the pieces a weathered look, I dry brushed Ever Better Beige by Behr to the plaques. Wiped with a damp cloth to soften the brush marks.
As the two plaques dry, I grabbed the beads to paint the Ever Better Beige by Behr to them.
I cut the beads off the string, in order to keep the holes facing up.
To one side of a plaque, add the smaller beads to the edge with wood glue and hot glue.
I glued the beads all around the plaque as close to the edge as possible.
I used a single bead I had on hand, painted it and placed it in the last space.
To the other plaque, I added the 4 larger beads to the bottom.
When the beads dry, I added more wood glue to the top of the small beads.
To the other plaque, added hot glue to the edge, working quickly. Centered the two plaque to form a riser.
That’s it! I love this little riser; it is perfect to highlight anything you might want to be the star of your setting.
Thanks for joining me today, I hope to inspire you with what I share.
