It’s time for another monthly Creative Craft hop, this month we have 10 crafters sharing some fun crafts. A warm welcome back to Sara, Birdz of a Feather, she is back hosting the craft hop. At the bottom of my page, I will share each participant’s link to their craft.
If you are coming over from Niki Life as a Leo wife , welcome!
For my craft today, I am using some items from Dollar Tree. This is a simple craft, here are the supplies you need.
- Dollar Tree round framed mirror
- 60 Jenga blocks. 1 box from Dollar Tree
- hot glue
- wood glue (optional)
- paint, color of your choice
Block Mirror Tutorial
Remove the mirror from the frame, paint your frame. I painted mine with Waverly chalk paint in ivory.
Remove the blocks from the package.
Place 4 blocks to the frame, centering top, bottom and both sides.
Take two blocks and place beside each centered block.
Continue to add two blocks to each of the other first three blocks.
Space out each block evenly and then glue the blocks to the frame.
I used both hot glue and wood glue.
The next row glue blocks where there are spaces between each block.
Add two more rows to the mirror the same way.
Giving a different look to the 4th row, I glued blocks vertically in between the horizontal blocks.
To remove the glue webs, use hot air from a hair dryer or heat gun.
After my frame was together, I decided to go with a different color. I am spray painting it with Rust-0leum Oil Rubbed Bronze.
To give it touches of copper highlights, I dry brushed Folkart Metallic Copper craft paint to the mirror’s frame and blocks.
Add the mirror and backing back in the frame.
Thanks for stopping by, make sure you check out the other crafter’s craft below. Next up is Allyson Southern Sunflower, she is giving a free printable for her craft. How fun is that???

Very creative! Your mirror looks just like an item you would find in World Market. Great idea adding the touches of metallic paint. Pinned.
Thanks Allyson!
Wow, that is the coolest craft I’ve seen in a long time . That is brilliant .. I must try this out. Well Done Terrie!
Teresa!
Thanks Teresa, I hope you do try to make you one, it’s fun putting it together.
What a pretty mirror style, Terrie. I would never know how it was made or with what. The color is very cool.
Thank you Carol.
This is really cool Terrie, it reminds me of a ship’s wheel! Great tip to use 2 kinds of glue, the hot glue for immediate securing and the wood glue for long term, very smart! The dry brush copper finish really makes it look professional, very attractive~
It does look like a ship’s wheel, I have to agree. Painted white and there you go! Thanks Jenna!!
Oh my, Terrie, the design on the mirror is so cool and creative! Love the colors you chose. It definitely looks like it’s from a high-end store! Great dollar store upcycle!
Thanks Gail! In the room I have oiled rubbed bronze so I thought I would try to copy the coloring. It did turn out pretty.
OH. MY. Goodness!!!! Just when I think I’ve seen all of the creativity you could possible have, you blow that thought right out of the water. Girl, you have outdone yourself. So cute!!!!! So creative. Well done. Love it. Pinning it. Breaking out the jingo blocks and trying it.
It was a fun project, you should try it. I wasn’t the creator of this one, I saw it on Pinterest. I did put my own spin. 🙂 Thanks Tammy!
This is brilliant Terri; you have an amazing ability to put things together into stunning home decor pieces. I’d never ever guess this started with items from the dollar store.
Thanks Sara, I wish I could take the credit of creating the idea, but it wasn’t me. I did put my own spin on it which I love how it turned out.
How clever! I love this look, Terrie–what a fun way to dress up a mirror! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks Cecilia, I agree, it does take a plastic mirror and upgrade it.
