While cleaning out the attic, I found our daughter, Kristin’s 30-year-old easel. The shelf was broken off, the hinges are bent and the two boards were ripped off the easel frame.
The first thing I did was took the easel apart.
Step One – Clean and Paint all wood pieces.
I cleaned all pieces, painted on two coats of Tin Foil by Behr.
Step Two -Repair parts
I straightened the hinges back into shape.
I placed washers to keep the screws from going through the holes.
Step Three – Add Hooks and Pails
To add an extra touch to the easel I added three hook screws to hold pails.
I painted the hooks the color of the wood and hung pails to each hook for more storage.
Step Four – Make the Easel Adjustable
The easel was too tall as it was, so I drilled holes to adjust the height of the easel as Kehlani grows.
I’m so happy with how the easel turned out. I hope Kehlani will enjoy the easel as much as her mommy did!!
