EASY PILLOW COVER TUTORIAL

I took two pillow shams that matches a duvet I recently purchased for our Master bedroom, (I will be sharing soon) for now I am going to change the shams to throw pillows.

The pillow shams are an envelope type covers so this will be very easy to convert to a smaller size.

I measured down one side to the length of the pillow form I will be using, adding 1 ½ inches for seam allowance and decorative stitching.  Pinning for a cut line.

I cut along the pinned line with my scissors.

Turning the sham inside out, ripping out the side seams about 2 inches to be able to lay the two pieces flat together.  I  stitched a basic stitch across the pillow cover.

Turning the pillow cover outside in, I stitched a basic stitch to continue the decorative stitching around the new edge.

As simple as that I have two pillows for the look I want.  It took me less than 30 minutes for the two pillows.  I will be sharing the Master bedroom’s bedding refresh soon.  Stay tune!!

  1. How I wish I learned to sew. It annoys me every time someone posts a sewing project.

Especially pillows. I should have learned.

    1. Cindy I am sure you would be able to sew. Most of the things I do are just basic stitches nothing fancy. If you ever want to try just let me know I can walk with you through your first pillow girlfriend!
