A simple creative way to upgrade your tissue box from basic to a more appealing display.
Before I show you how you could create a cute holder for your tissues, I need to tell you about our monthly Creative Craft group.
Our group is led by Sara Birdz of a Feather and Donna Modern on Monticello, they both are the master minds for the monthly blog hop, they both do a fantastic job gathering up talented crafters to provide you inspiration. This month we have 5 crafters sharing cute creative items at the bottom of my page, I will share each participant’s link to their page.
Instead of using those boring and unattractive tissue boxes let me show you a more attractive way you can style your tissues. A while back I shared how you could use a glass canister to house your Kleenex, if you missed that blog post you can take a look here → A SIMPLE CUTE HOME DECOR DIY.
This is so easy to do, you can use just about anything. I am loving pottery vases, vessels or planters these days when decorating our home, why not use them for the tissues as well?
I will share what size and shape of containers that will create the perfect and most stylish tissue holder.
Best Shape Vase for Tissues
- A vase that is a similar shape and size of the tissue box.
- Two types of opening, wide mouth opening or a 3-inch opening
Wide Mouth Opening
With just a few simple steps, you can turn any wide-mouth vase into a stunning tissue holder.
First open you tissue box, keeping the tissues in the stack while pulling out the tissues. Take the top tissue out, leave half of it under the next tissue.
Fold it in half with the left-out tissue in the center sticking up and place in your wide mouth vessel. That’s it.
Small Opening Containers
These types of vessels or vases will still work for a tissue container, but you will not be able to use a full box of tissues. Also, you will have a different way to fold your tissues to stuff into the vase.
Divide the tissues into two piles. Place one pile back in the box to save for later.
Fold the tissues in half down the middle, long ways.
Then insert into the vase and start pushing the tissues in. When you reach close to the end, fold over the remaining tissue as you insert. This will give you the upside down ‘u’ like in the original tissue box.
Then reach in and pull up the starter tissue!
Will you give this a try? I hope this post helps you as you decorate your home!

Stay strong and God bless! ♥
Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Oh my, Terrie! I have boxes of tissue in every room of my home and your idea and lovely creation hit the nail on it’s head with these lovely suggestions! I’m certainly going to try this! Thanks!
I have tissues in almost every room as well. I am in pottery vessels right now so this comes in handy!
I have never thought of doing this, but I think the idea is so simple and brilliant! What a great way to think “outside the box.” Pinned!
No pun intended. ha ha “outside the box” I had to laugh. Thanks Donna, I wasn’t the brilliant one, I just wanted to share.
I never put out a box of tissues in the cardboard box. We have tissue covers in every room. Your idea is super functional and attractive. Thanks for sharing, Terrie.
I have covers as well, but I love a pretty pottery vase right now. 🙂
I have a whole secret Pinterest board dedicated to tissue and this is just the best Terrie! I couldn’t love it more!
Awe thanks Sara. Glad I shared this. So many vessels or vases to use now a days.
