Hey there! If only I had a green thumb instead of a painted one. 🙂 Maybe I would have a live plant to share with you today instead of a DIY faux one. Today I want to share how I made a faux olive tree topiary for my kitchen. I found one I really like but the price hit me smack dab in the face.

Here are the items you will need:
- 4 olive branches
- 1 twig from your yard shaped in a Y
- floral foam
- flower pot (I painted an old one I had)
- floral tape (I used green and painted it brown, you can save a step and use brown floral tape)
- Spanish moss
- wire cutters
- hot glue gun and glue sticks

Let’s get started on making an Olive Tree Topiary.
MAKING THE BRANCH
- Removed all the little stems off the bundle.
- Using the floral tape, I taped all the little stems on to the twig.
PLACING THE BRANCH INTO THE CONTAINER
- Taking the floral foam, hot glue gun and glue sticks, container.
- Add glue to the container and place the foam into the container.
- Make a hole in the center of the foam, add some hot glue and place the stem into the foam. Add some more glue to the stem.
- Add Spanish moss to the top of the foam.
PAINTING THE STEM BROWN
- Since I used green floral tape I am using my Truffle Waverly chalk paint and painting the tape brown.
That’s it !! It was so easy to make and the best part, it was under $15 to make. That’s a huge savings!

Teresa ..
I hope you do try and then tag me in so I can see. It is a cute little plant to have anywhere in your home. Walmart has olive stems for $3 you might want to check them out.
Just an FYI. Wal-Mart is selling these for $3 and they are truly very nice. I bought some already for the house.
Thanks Tina. I just went today and saw the ones you are talking about. Yes they are very nice. Are you making a tree or just adding them to a vase or bottle?
Hi Terrie this is adorable and you are wearing your crown very well. These are so expensive and you came up with a great solution.
It’s fun making topiary for me because they are so expensive.
Pinning for you.
