What can I do with these large egg containers, I ask this every year.  Well, this year I am going to do something with it!

Materials:

  • one large egg container
  • Easter napkin
  • E6000 and hot glue
  • roll-on texture or joint compound
  • paint (color of your choice)
  • Dollar Tree votive holder or any pedestal will do.
  • Mod Podge or wallpaper paste

Tutorial:

  • Using E6000 and hot glue to seal the two parts of the egg together.
  • Paint your pedestal.

  • Coat your egg with joint compound (roll-on texture) for an eggshell texture look.
  • Let the texture dry thoroughly.  Sand the surface of the egg lightly to smooth out the brush marks.  It won’t totally be smooth.
  • Paint two coats of paint of your choice, I am using Even Better Beige by Behr.
  • Decoupage your napkin onto your egg.

  • Cut out your design in your napkin.
  • Spread Mod Podge or wallpaper paste evenly on the part you will be decoupaging.

  • Add your napkin design to the glued part.  I am using more cut out flowers to wrap around the entire bottom of my egg.

  • Removed as many wrinkles as possible, add a coat of glue over the entire egg.
  • Let it dry thoroughly.   I dressed up the top of my egg, I used a new pencil’s eraser and made all different pastel dots.
  • I placed dots evenly all over the top portion of the egg.

  • Use the egg paint color to fix any messy dots.

  • Glue the egg to the pedestal with E6000 and hot glue.
  • Center the egg to the pedestal and let dry.

That’s it!  Look how cute this egg container turned out!!

It feels good to accomplish something that I have been wanting to do. I hope you like this giant egg makeover!  I will have more Easter decoration makeovers, stay tuned!
