Today here on the blog I made one of the quickest project ever!

I turned a piece of scrap board into a riser for my kitchen countertop with a few easy steps.  I’ll show you how easy it is and where you can purchase a riser like mine if you can’t make one for yourself.

I cut three pieces from my scrap wood.

  • 12″ x 9″
  • two pieces of 3″ x 9″

I sanded all three pieces.  Once sanded I added the 3 x 9 pieces to the 12 x 9.

Applied wood glue to both pieces and placed to each end of the 12 x 9 board.

I let the glue take hold before I drilled a pilot hole to attach with wood screws to keep the boards in place.

I gave the whole riser one coat of Minwax stain in Golden Oak, followed with one coat of matt finished poly.

To protect my countertop, I placed cut pieces of self-adhesive pads to the bottom of my riser.

That’s it.  You can make this any size you desire and any color.

So many was to style this gem doesn’t have to be just in the kitchen.

To purchase a riser similar to mine, here is one I found on Etsy.  COUNTERTOP RISER.
