HOW TO MAKE A MIXED GREENERY WREATH

Hey there!  Welcome to Decorate and More with Tip!  Here on my blog I share tips on how you can decorate your home on a budget by creating it from scratch, revamping, re-purposing or giving it a makeover with easy tutorials.  I hope I inspire you to create something beautiful for your home. 🙂

I am so excited to be sharing a wreath tutorial today!   A great thing about my tutorial here, it will work for any type of greenery you want to use.   On my wreath I purchased 3 different types of leaf bundles from Walmart.  Very inexpensive and so simple to make!  For more wreath inspiration, you can check out my other wreath tutorials → DIY WREATHS.

Items I am using:

  • 8″ grapevine wreath
  • 2 fern bundles
  • 2 bundles of mixed berries
  • 1 eucalyptus stem
  • hot glue
  • wire snips

I love using grapevine wreaths because you can reuse them and they never lose their shape.  You can weave your stems inside without damaging the wreath.  When you are ready to change your wreath for the season just pull the stems out.  Easy peasy!

Tutorial

  • I took the bundle of mixed berries first, using the wire snips I cut all the top stems off the bundle leaving all the yellowish leaves still attached.

  • After I snipped the stems the piece should have a berry and a leaf section.  I separated the two pieces, as well.

  • Taking all the berry pieces first adding them to my wreath.

  • I  applied a dab of hot glue on the end to secure the piece into my wreath.

  • Sticking the glued stem inside the grapevine wreath, it’s as easy as that.

  • Spacing the berry stem about 3 inches apart from one another.

  • This is how the berry sections looks on the wreath.

  • Next, taking the leafy piece of the mixed berry bundle and applying it to my wreath the same way as the berries.  I placed them in between the berries.

  • Using the fern leaves now, I removed the fern pieces from the bundle by pulling them off the stems.

  • Randomly sticking the ferns around the outside and inner parts of the wreath. I trimmed some pieces at the bottom before placing in the inner part of the wreath.

  • I only used a few of the eucalyptus leaves.  I pulled off the leaves from the stem and glued them in the wreath.

My wreath was as full as I wanted even though I didn’t use all my leaves.  I will have enough to use for a future project. 🙂

I rearranged the leaves until I liked how they looked.  Adding a few more pieces to any bare spots I seen.

Making this wreath took no time at all, actually it took longer for me to pick out the greenery I wanted to use.

It’s another small wreath to add to my collection.  The wreath can fit inside one of my tobacco baskets.

For the O in my Home Wall décor.

And even as a candle wreath.

So many possibilities for this wreath.  I listed down below similar supplies I used for you and also a wreath.

  1. Totally adore this, I like how you had it at the place of an “O”. Looks stunning. I also like it around the candle as well. Such an elegant piece of decor! Thank you for sharing. I alsway ador your creativity!

    1. Thanks Christine. I love to have greenery all over our home. I don’t do well with live plants so artificial is the way for me. Less care. ha!

  2. Thank you Donna! I do remember the candle rings. I use to have some I purchased from Home Interior Parties. Do you remember those? ha!

You can find tobacco baskets very reasonable now, they use to be expensive. The authentic ones are expensive when you can find them. I love mine. I know you have seen them up on our wall above our TV.

How neat that you have a grapevine, do you have an orchard or just a fence of grapes? I remember growing up we had a small fence with grapes. Never knew you could make a wreath out of them back then. ha!

  3. Love this! When it’s between seasons/holidays would be perfect to use this concept. Back in the 70’s and 80’s we used a lot of floral rings for candles. You’re too young to remember that! I don’t have a tobacco basket but after seeing your creation, I think I need one. The grapevine wreath I have right now is from our own grapevines. The Urban Farmer is talking about taking the grapes down as they have not performed well at all. I told him not to burn the vines, I need them.
