LAUNDRY ROOM – $100 ROOM CHALLENGE

HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!

Although all of my Christmas decorations are still up in our home, I am taking one more day off before breaking it down and packing it all away.  I am so excited to be part of the $100 Room Challenge again!   This past September was my very first $100 room challenge, for that challenge I took paint to our master bathroom.  To view my past $100 Room Challenge you can go view the whole challenge here ⇒ $100 ROOM CHALLENGE.   I enjoyed it so much that I decided to start back blogging a little earlier than planned and join this challenge round.  I am going to give our laundry room a bright new look.  Thanks to Erin over at Lemons, Lavender and Laundry for hosting the challenge.  I will list all the participating bloggers below at the bottom of my page.  First, let me share what our laundry room looks like at the moment.

Here is our laundry room as is now.

The Challenge is pretty easy to follow – spending only $100 to makeover one room in your home.  The reasoning for the challenge is for our readers, you, to be inspired and realize even if you don’t have thousands of dollars to spend, you can still create the beautiful home you imagine.  One way I can stay within the budget is doing the work myself and with a little help from Mr. Tip.  🙂

Our laundry room is not in bad shape nor does it really need a makeover…there is always a but, right?   I am loving the colors I used in our master bathroom, I want to start creating an even flow in our home with the same colors.  What better way in creating an even flow in our home than doing it when we can challenge ourselves to do it on a budget?

Here is my wants in the room.

I plan to paint the cabinets.

I am going to paint the cabinets Seattle Gray, the same color as the master bathroom walls.

I also want to paint the walls Edgecomb gray, the color of the cabinets in the master bathroom and our master bedroom furniture.  The laundry room walls are painted Pure Earth by Behr now.

I will be removing the wall decal and be placing a DIY blue and white buffalo plaid wall with wall hooks across the wall.  My inspiration for the plaid wall I found on Pinterest.  Not too sure who the source was, isn’t this wall cute?

On the wall with the hamper with frame and shelf I will be creating a DIY bench area.  There will be some DIYs on this wall as well.  I will share it all with you !!

I am thinking about painting the door blue and a DIY valance.  I will shop for something to place on the wall to replace the coat rack.

To write it all down, here is what I hope to do in the laundry room.

  • paint the cabinets
  • paint the walls
  • paint a buffalo plaid design on one wall
  • create a sitting area in the space
  • paint the door
  • make a valance
  • shop for decorations

So that’s what I have planned for this month’s challenge in our laundry room.  First up is painting the cabinets!!  I hope you come back each week to see the progress I make in our laundry room.

    1. Thanks Nicki. I am excited to get the room finished. I hope it all turns out the way I have it planned. So happy to be working on the challenge with you.

  1. I’m so jealous of how much space you have in your laundry room. Can’t wait to see what you do to the space. That plaid wall is so pretty!

    1. Thanks Kati. We have a nice size that’s for sure, but sometimes I wished it was different. ha! It is the first room our guest comes into since most of our friends and family uses the garage door. I can’t wait to see it all finished. Hope it turns out as well as what my plans are.

  2. I love the colors and style of your idea board – I’m sure this room will be a fabulous makeover! Excited to see how it turns out! We have a buffalo check stencil from Stencil Revolution and it worked great in my daughter’s room.

    1. Thanks Rachel. I am going to DIY the check onto the wall with painters tape. I should think about the stencil but thinking I could save money by using the tape. I will have to check out your blog on your daughter’s room. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thank you Leigh. I sure hope it turns out the way I have it pictured. Never know, maybe it will turn out better. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

  3. This is going to be an amazing transformation! I love the colors you chose. So bright and cheery. You’re going to want to do laundry when you are all done, lol. So glad you are part of this challenge.

    1. I am loving the colors I have chosen to work with in the room. The blue will brighten the room up for sure or at least I will love the change. So happy to see you join the challenge. We are going to have a very busy month my friend.

    1. Thanks Erin. I sure hope the wall comes out the way I have in vision. If not it’s only paint right? I am so excited for my first of many projects this year. Thanks for hosting this great challenge.

    1. Thanks Jen. I really didn’t want to paint the cabinets white, I am so excited to see how the color looks and how the whole room comes together. The room really needs some color.

    1. I really like the idea of the back wall painted in a buffalo plaid. Thanks Lindsey, I am so happy to be working with you on this challenge. Can’t wait to see everyone’s room reveals.

  4. Terrie,

Your plans look great and I look forward to seeing the room progress.

I want to make small changes to our laundry room this year with paint. Maybe spring.

    Happy New Year!

    Cindy

    1. Happy New Year Cindy! I am so excited to start this challenge. Even though I have all this Christmas decoration starring at me. ha! I am excited to start the new year with inspiration on my blog. I will be looking out for your post as well!

  5. Terrie, it sounds like you have it all figured out. And, I love all your ideas and color combinations. You’re right, the room doesn’t look bad right now but I do think it’s going to be even better with your new ideas.

    1. Thank you Patti! I have it all down on paper what I want to do. Now if it all works as easy as writing it up. ha! Thanks for stopping by!

  6. Terrie I can’t wait to see this finished. For about five years my BFF and I owned a faux finish company and did a ton of plaid walls. I was always amazed at how paint can transform a room! I love these colors. Glad I waited to redo my laundry room so that I can get some great ideas from you.

    1. Tammy I would love to hear some tips on how you would do the wall. I have done the technique on plates and bottles but not on a large area as the wall. I am very confident I can do it but any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your comment. I am excited to be working with you on this challenge. We will be very busy this month with all of our activities we have together! 🙂
