To describe the style Kristin wanted in her home on the main level; clean lines, neutral materials and earthy tones. To name her style… modern organic.
Kristin and I shopped and planned on how we were going to decorate her living room, once we started, we knew we didn’t have enough pieces to decorate with. Back to shopping we went!
Define Space
We added an area rug to create a focal point and to tie the room together, bringing in color and pattern warms up the harshness of the wood flooring.
Since their main floor is an open concept, we felt it would be a good idea to define the living room and kept the other areas free from additional rugs. It gives a minimalistic look that she loves.
Furniture
Again, since we are working with an open concept, required some thoughtful planning to create a cohesive and inviting space. Kristin fell in love with The Montecito sectional in Rooms to Go, it also creates a minimalist look in their living room.
For the coffee table, a round coffee tables was the choice with the sectional, it saves a lot of space and is easier to move around. The coffee table is a Canyon Sand Round Coffee Table, also found in Rooms to Go.
They purchased the matching end table as well. Canyon Sand End Table
While shopping for home decor pieces, we spotted this swivel accent chair. Not only does the fabric resembles the sectional, but it swivels, rocks and reclines. Perfect for the space.
The last piece we placed a pair of SICOTAS Console Tables, to the back of the sectional, we decorated them very simple. You might notice the lamp, this was a teal lamp I purchased in Beall’s, I spray painted it a month or so ago.
The Decorative Books you see in the room, they are made of high-quality paper. They are packaged flat; you fold them into books. Kristin found these on Amazon.
Pillows
To the sectional, we layered pillows in warm-colored textiles. Found all the pillow covers on Amazon, linked below.
- Dark grey pillow
- Rust pillow
- Green Pillow
- Light Grey Pillow
- Camel Lumbar Pillow
- Blocked Floral Pillow
- Beige and Brown Plaid Pillow
- Pattern Lumbar Pillow
Decor Pieces
Keeping in mind Kristin’s style, we shopped for warm tones, airy greenery, smooth lines, wooden and leather material items.
When decorating the built-ins I mixed and match vases, decorative boxes, candlesticks, frames, trays, plants, and small objects to create the layered shelf look.
A few more shots of the room.
You might notice the bowl; this was my thrift store bowl makeover. I love the two pieces together.
Only a few more rooms to complete over at Kristin’s. I hope you continue to come by and see each room as we complete them.
