Looking for a different way to arrange your china cabinet? Wait until you see how I styled mine.
It’s not your normal styled china cabinet; it does have all my china and stemware in it and so much more.
My cabinet has a trim piece down the center, which hides whatever is behind it. This use to drive me crazy, but now it allows me to store my silver pieces without it being seen.
I decided to style my cabinet a little different than times past. I gathered up vases, greenery, frames, my china and stemware to decorate the cabinet as if it was more of a built-in than a china cabinet.
I cleaned the in and outside of the china cabinet. I even cleaned out the drawers and cabinet, purging quite a few things.
As I style my china cabinet, I will give you a step by step placement of each shelf. Maybe you will be inspired by something I have placed on one of my shelves.
For the top left shelf.
The frame is a DIY, I found the frame in a thrift store. I removed the print that was in the frame with a piece of fabric. I frayed the edges all around the fabric and placed it in the frame. I love how this turned out.
Next to the frame, a dusty blue vase. I love the color of the blue next to the fabric in the frame.
To the other side of the frame, I placed two of my china cups inside a cloche. I placed the cloche on top of two small china plates.
To hide the easel, I placed a glass bird votive.
Moving down to the second shelf on the right side.
Using most of my china, I placed two of the dinner plates on easels, one lower than the other.
I placed a salad plate in the center of the two dinner plates.
Added two of my stemware to the side of the plates.
Stacked two of my cups and saucers to the other side of the plates.
In the center to conceal the easels I added a brass duck.
The bottom shelf.
Added two neutral tall vases.
Added several plates and a creamer on to a wooden cake plate.
To the center, added a larger creamer tucked in some greenery for a little pop of color.
Moving to the right top side of my cabinet.
I added an antique gold charger plate, dinner plate and a salad plate creating a layer of different heights.
I placed two of my stemware to each side of the plates
Stacked plates and sat a small navy vase with greenery on top of the plates.
Added two of my keepsake figures.
The second shelf on the left side.
I found the small frame in Hobby Lobby and knew right where I wanted it to be place.
Added two of my skinny brass candlesticks to the side of the frame.
To the other side of the frame, I added a round vase with greenery.
Stacked more of my china bread plates and placed a stone bowl on top.
Lastly, the bottom shelf.
Using a full place setting of my china, I placed all three plates in a picture easel.
I stacked the remaining china and placed it to the side of the plates.
Added stemware to the other side of the plates
To rise up my cup and saucer I placed them on a little riser.
I love my china, but the mixed elements of the china and home decor pieces creates the look and feel I want for our dining room.
I hope I provided you a little different way to decorate your china cabinet or even a hutch.
