When do you think people should start to decorate for fall? Fall officially starts September 22, would that be the best time? Since I have all my painting done I am starting early. Christmas, I start earlier than most people, so I guess fall shouldn’t be any different for me. Do y’all decorate for fall? Do you go all out decorating your main rooms in your house? For fall, I just stick to the kitchen. Unless I have our dinner club during the fall season, I would decorate my dining room table. Maybe next year I will add a new fall centerpiece to my dining room table.
I brought down my Halloween tub from the attic, I have color appropriate tubs for every holiday that I store my decor in up in our attic. My Halloween tub is orange with a black top. Do you end up like I use to do and had to search in your containers to find out what was what? Before, I had to open and go through to find out what was in my tubs until I color coded them. Works perfectly for me.
I took all my fall decor out of the tub, I separated the ones I don’t want and the ones that I did. It doesn’t look like much until you have to prep, paint and then figure out how you want it all to go.
Here is all the items I wanted to keep. I ended up putting the little yellow pumpkin in the “do not want pile” after I had everything painted.
I spray painted the leaves of the items copper. I dry brushed some white on some of the leaves for a different look than just plain painted leaves.
On two of the pumpkins I wanted to bling them out with some diamond ribbon that I purchased at Dollar Tree. Used my hot glue and added it on to each line of the pumpkin. Painted the stem silver with craft paint.
On another two I spray painted them totally copper and added the glitter mist as a top coat.
On the last two pieces I left them white and the leaves the black as I bought it.

Almost forgot…….my DIY. So Sorry y’all! Here it is
The supplies I used are.
- two styrofoam pumpkins at the Dollar Tree
- white spray paint
- jute twine
- several different ribbons
- twig from our yard that is a good round size for the stem
- two sweater boot cuffs (I was going to put mine in the yard sale but pulled them out)
- hot glue gun and glue
- scissors
- needle and thread
- pruners
First, I will remove the stem from the pumpkins. They were placed in by picks so you can pull them out easily. I spray painted the bottoms first after the paint dried I turned them upright and sprayed the whole pumpkin. I only spray painted one coat. The orange was noticeable if not spray painted through the sweater boot cuff.
I took needle and thread and stitched around the top edge and gathered it closed. Tied a knot to keep it in place. At the bottom I left it alone. It seemed to be staying in place on its own.
Isn’t this just so stinky cute? I love them both. I placed them on my little bench. Just loving this DIY. Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
Thank you! I am so pleased to hear that my instructions are clear and you are able to follow. I hope I inspired you to make some for your home this Fall. If you do I would love to see how they turned out.
