VIGNETTE ROUND UP

Hello friends!   If you are now just joining me, thank you for coming by and I hope you come back to visit.  Happy first day of October!  You would think we would be having fall-like weather here, but instead we are having 90 degree days.  How can we think fall and pumpkins when the temperature feels more like summer and watermelons?  I am totally ready for cooler weather and am so ready for the next few months of holiday activities.

Today I am kicking off a round-up of all my vignette posting for September.  I thought it would be cool to gather all the posting and put on one page.  Maybe you could tell me which one is your favorite or give this girl a high by telling me there are more than one favorite!  I enjoyed arranging pieces and sharing them with you.  You might not ever use them or want to use them, I want to thank you for viewing all of them anyway.  Thank you also for the LOVE or LIKE click.  I appreciate your comments and reactions to my post.  You make a girl feel special.

The hardest part of decorating the home is HOW to do it and make it look nice.  Boy…..I look at old pictures of our first home, there wasn’t much decor around.  Maybe a lamp and an ash tray sitting on a side table (we didn’t even smoke, but we had an ash tray).  Then I was introduced to the home designs of Home Interiors, who remembers that?  My husband swore that he could look back in our checkbook and see a check written out to the Home Interior representative every month, some even twice a month.  When we had a party that meant one of your guest would have a party and you would be invited…and so on.  I think that really was the only place you could purchase  any type of home decor.  Am I right? Styling my home, to me back then, was spotting a grouping in their catalog that I liked, buying the whole complete grouping and putting it up exactly as it was in the book.  I didn’t have to think or arrange, I just had to put it up.  Hardest part was making it level.   We have a lot more resources to shop for home decor now.  Decorating a home is not an easy task, it takes time and a lot of patience.  And some would say a lot of money.  I have to disagree with that part of costing a lot to decorate your home. It does take money to buy home decor I am not saying that, but it doesn’t have to cost a lot to make your home beautiful.  I will show you in my blog this coming week on how I style my son’s bedroom and bath to look stylish for less.  OK…where was I……Oh I know.  Once you figure out how to make a grouping yourself it becomes fun and less intimidating.   I found this work sheet that I printed out and attached it to my project binder.  I came across this years ago and I still use it today.  I wanted to share it with you so you can have a way to make a vignette yourself.

Using this simple formula you will have a no-fail result.  The formula requires one horizontal thing, like a tray or a stack of books. Then, add in something vertical, like vases, a lamp, or candlesticks. The last part is the glue that holds it all together…an object! The right object in an arrangement not only bridges the horizontal and vertical planes, but it is often the most interesting item. Objects give character to a space.  Use this sheet and maybe you will be a pro at vignette makings.  I hope that you will be able to use this for your own home styling.Let’s recap  on my daily vignettes for the month of September.  There are 24 vignettes.  You might remember them all or maybe you missed seeing a day or two.  I hope you enjoy viewing all of them here.

If you have any questions on anything you see please email me or post a comment.  I will get right back to you as soon as I get your question.  Also, if you see something and want to know where I purchased it, let me know.  I will be happy to share.  Just go click here to email me.
