Spring cleaning has me wanting to redecorate each room in our home. I’m not going to change everything, but I will be a few spaces in our home. For some reason I am in this mode of decorating simply.
Decorating with the mindset of less is best, well…. maybe not 100% less is best! The first space I changed in the family room is the mantel. Here is how I created the simple styled mantel of ours.
Simple Styled Mantel
I started with a clean mantel and fireplace. Today on my FACEBOOK PAGE and YOUTUBE CHANNEL I shared how I cleaned the space.
Looking at my mantel at first glance it is pretty neutral space. The white shiplap is the perfect blank canvas to decorate. I start by adding back my wood framed door mirrors.
The first piece, I added a pop of color with a black vase. This gives that drama factor to my mantel.
The black vase can give impact to the mantel and ties my color scheme together beautifully.
Then, on the opposite side, I added some weight to create balance with wooden glass votive candleholders.
I found the two candleholders in Beall’s Outlet store, using the candleholders to the side not only is a classic decor piece, but they brings an organic feel to the mantel.
Even after placing the candleholders to the opposite side of the vase, it still doesn’t feel balanced. Due to the texture and color of the vase; it seems heavier in appearance.
To create more weight, I added a wooden bowl to the side of the candleholders.
Here’s the fun part, adding style, color and personality to the mantel.
To the black vase, I choose to use a bundle minimal foliage, this allows the vase itself to be the standout element.
I purchased the stems years ago in Kirkland’s.
To tie in the black vase to the other side of the mantel, I added black wooden decorative beads in the wooden bowl.
I switched the position of the mantel decorations; it didn’t feel right the way I had it.
Bringing back my two wood and black lanterns to the hearth.
I added a greenery wreath to the larger lantern.
So here is a full view of my simply styled mantel.
I hope you enjoyed my mantel styling. Thanks for stopping by!

Stay strong and God bless! ♥
Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
I think that looks perfectly balanced and simple – well done! I admire the way it ties in with the room, too. I cleaned my mantel off yesterday and am thinking about changing the art hanging there. I like the idea of being able to switch it out with other elements. Maybe I can work on that today!
Have fun Gina! It’s always fun to decorate after cleaning our homes.
Your fireplace mantle decor is perfect for Spring. Everything looks so nice and clean…. Love all of it!
Thank you Tammy.
