Hey there! It’s starting to look like Christmas around our home. I thought it would be fun to bring you over and watch me at work on the chest of drawer creating a Christmas vignette. I did a video tutorial as well on my stories. You can check the video out here ⇒ FACEBOOK or INSTAGRAM.
How to create a themed Christmas vignette
If you have been following me long you know before I start to decorate any piece I love to start with a clean slate.
I mean a clean slate. During the holiday season with all the decorations it’s really hard to deep clean without removing everything, which I will not. I clean the space prior to decorating, during the season I dust around the area.

Gather all your main items
Once you figure out your theme for your vignette, gather all the main items you think you would want to use.
Here are the items I collected…
• Santa – the anchor of the vignette. Mr Tip’s parents use to give us an animated Santa for Christmas. The Santa I am using was one they gave to us. Not too sure where they found him but he has been with us for many, many years.
• Wreath – My wreath is part of the King of Christmas Flock Collection. To go check out the collection you can click here ⇒ KING OF CHRISTMAS. King of Christmas will be offering you my faithful reader 10% off of your purchase by using my discount code DECORATEANDMOREWITHTIP.
I decorated my wreath with a Santa hat and a few other items. You can go check out the tutorial of my wreath display here ⇒ KING OF CHRISTMAS WREATH.
• Garland – I am using a 9 foot flocked garland.
• Books – I gathered all the books I had. It’s story time with Santa…you have to decorate with book!
Now that I gathered all my main pieces it’s time to start decorating. To help you with creating a vignette, I shared on one of my blog post how to create the basic vignette, if you need to review how click here ⇒ DECORATING WITH THE RULES OF THREE
Hanging garland on a mirror frame
To prevent damage to the frame on my mirror I am using three over the door hooks. The hooks fit perfectly on my frame. I am using a suction cup to hold the wreath onto the mirror.
I placed the hooks around my frame and added the suction cup to the top center of the mirror.
Here is a tip to hang garland. Find the center and place the center of your garland on your hook on your item. I placed the garland behind the good and wrapped a branch around to hide the hook and hold the garland in place.
I placed the wreath on the suction cup. I decided to not strand lights on the garland.
That is all I will place on the mirror. Let’s turn to the chest of drawers. Adding the anchor to my vignette. Here is Santa center stage!
I placed him a little off center due to the wreath. I think it still will work good there.
I added my books to the side of Santa. I didn’t want the binders to been seen so I turned the books to the page side.
To fill in the gap on the other side of Santa I placed a gold Christmas tree. I thought using gold would tie in the older pages and the warm white lights of the wreath.
That is the main pieces I wanted. Now the accent pieces to bring this vignette alive.
Let me share with you what all I added. Adding a bow on top of the books brought a softness from the stark white of the book pages.
I added a piece of evergreen and berries by the side of a snow globe.
And again adding some toys…because it is Santa’s story time !!
I am really loving this Christmas fun vignette. Each little vignette Santa takes center stage. If you could picture this…..my Santa moves his pipe, the clock is ticking and you would hear Santa reading The Night Before Christmas. It is amazing after 27 years it is still going strong!
Don’t forget to go check out King of Christmas and their Christmas trees, wreaths and garland. They have several different items as well. AND don’t forget the 10% off discount code DECORATEANDMOREWITHTIP.

This is so pretty! I love how you put the wreath around the top of the mirror. Beautiful! And Santa is adorable!!
Thanks Michelle. I love how the wreath looks under the garland. My Santa is something special for sure. Santa of any kind is always adorable, right? Have a wonderful holiday season.
Hi Terrie,
I had the same motion Santa years ago. One of niece’s loved it so much I gave it her. Those pieces are very nostalgic for me and if taken care of work forever.
Your wreath works perfectly on this vignette.
Have a great Monday
Cindy
Thanks Cindy. Hope you have a beautiful week.
I was searching for this Santa online and found several on Ebay. Very expensive. I am happy I still have him and it still works great!
Thanks Cindy. I have a couple more they gave us. I am using them all this year.
Happy Monday my sweet friend.
