Y’all know last spring we had our back porch screened in, I don’t have to tell you how nice it is to sit out there and not get carried away by mosquitoes or be bothered by flies. I love sitting out there in the mornings listening to the birds chirp and enjoying peace and quiet before our day starts. We haven’t been enjoying the porch yet this spring since we are still in the heavy pollen season, but yesterday I cleaned off a little area on the porch (our swing and coffee table area) so my husband and I can enjoy the beautiful spring weather sipping on our morning drink (coffee for Jim and tea for me). Now, those that know me are shaking their heads saying Terrie, you drink nothing but diet Pepsi! Well, you are right, but on mornings when we sit out on the porch I will drink a cup of hot tea.
Usually, on a nice spring weekend morning you will find us in the swing on the porch enjoying our mornings. I made it a little special yesterday morning, after we came home from Mass I added a little flower on the tray along with two granola bars, one for each of us.
As we sipped on our drinks, we plan out our day. Something about sitting out on the porch talking about our hard work for the day doesn’t seem to bother me as bad. Right then, anyway.
I keep on talking about our porch and pollen season, if you have not seen our screened in porch prior to pollen season you can go over to our BACK PORCH REVEAL. But for now, here is a snapshot of our swing during pollen season.
Sad…I know!
After our long day yesterday cleaning out our small garage and working in the yard, we enjoyed another relaxing time on the porch. We were both hot, tired and thirsty. We didn’t venture out to get my normal diet Pepsi so I fixed us both an ice cold Arnold Palmer. Yeah, I can just see the look on your face. What the heck is an Arnold Palmer? I am going to tell you. I had all the ingredients here at the house and thought it would quench our thirst.
Here is what’s in an Arnold Palmer.
- lemonade
- unsweetened tea
- ice
- orange (you can use any fruit to garnish your drink)
Add ice and half a glass of lemonade.
Pour in your unsweetened tea.
Garnish your drink with a slice of an orange. That’s it.
A little fact about the drink. Every time Arnold Palmer was out on the golf course he would go into the bar and order half lemonade and half unsweetened tea all the time. The bartender finally called it the Arnold Palmer.
It was nice sitting out on the swing yesterday morning before our day and then later on in the evening talking about how our day went. ♥
I would say yesterday was the start of our Spring season sitting out on our porch. What is your favorite thing in Spring to do?
I hope you have a great start to your Spring this year. CHEERS!
Here is the recipe for the Arnold Palmer drink. It is very easy and is truly re-freshening.
Our best conversations are out on the porch. We talk about what we want to do for the day and then how our day went. Such a peaceful way to spend time with one another out on the porch sipping on whatever the drink may be. Yesterday we had TEA for two!

Decorating our home on a budget is my thrill. I think a home can look beautiful without breaking the bank. Your home should bring the best out of you and make you feel happy. You should smile every time you enter your home. 🙂
These drinks look delicious!!

It was really refreshing after working out in the yard. Hope you have a great week!
Terrie, a screened in back porch sounds divine. What a wonderful place to relax before or after the day. Thanks for sharing the recipe for an Arnold Palmer. I forget about that ironic drink. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.
Thank you Carol for coming over to visit. Yes the screened in porch is so nice for us now. I hope you enjoy the recipe to make a drink or two for yourself.
Terrie,
What a wonderful way to start your day… talking with your hubby about the day’s plans. I always thought an Arnold Palmer had alcohol in it. But, what do I know about any drinks… teetotaler here. Adding lemonade to tea sounds like a great way to add the lemon-y taste many people enjoy in their tea.
Hope Spring arrives soon for you so you can enjoy more of your back porch…
Judith
I heard a saying that if you order a John Daly, that had alcohol in it. ha!
Thanks for stopping by. I had a great time hopping with you. Happy Mother’s Day Judith!
Tea for two is just enough, isn’t it? I am a straight lemonade girl, but my hubby goes for an Arnold Palmer all the time! Enjoy your porch, free of bugs!
It sure is. Sometimes we just need it to be us. Thank you Chloe. Hope you have a great Mother’s Day.
I love your relaxed tea for two! Those Arnold Palmers would hit the spot on a warm spring day. Thanks for sharing how the drink came about!
Michelle, Lemonade and tea are a great drink for the warmer weather. Adding the two is a great combo. Thanks for stopping by. I had a fun time hopping with you.
I did not know the history behind the Arnold Palmer drink! I do like them, especially in the Summer!
The drink hits the spot for sure. Lemonade and tea both are a great summer drink but add them together and you get double the pleasure. 🙂
Terrie my 14 year old son LOVES Arnold Palmer tea and I have been spending way too much money buying it in the bottle. I am going to try making it at home, or better yet, teach him how to make it. He is a little golfer actually, so it’s kind of funny that he is so crazy about Arnold Palmer tea!
Thanks so much for sharing about your relaxing tea time on the porch. It is STILL pollen season here and our porch is green, literally so I haven’t been able to use it at all even though we have had beautiful weather all spring. We have about one more week and then the pollen will be fading and we can clean off the porch and back deck for the season.
Thank you for joining the hop! Enjoy your porch and sipping on tea!
You made me smile. One thing I do remember when my children (old or small) lived with us, they seemed to not know where the glasses were. ha! I had a great time hopping with you and the wonderful group of ladies.
I’m a big fan of Arnold Palmer’s. In fact I’m drinking one right now.
I can just picture you drinking that sitting in your beautiful place you have or on the beach. I had a great time hopping with you Carol. Happy Mothers Day!
Arnold Palmer’s are one of my favorite drinks! There is definitely nothing like one on a hot day to help cool you down. I love how you guys take time to relax on the porch in the morning. It’s such a great way to kick off the day. Hope you have a Happy Mother’s Day, CoCo
I am so happy you like the Palmer drink. Thank you CoCo so happy to be hopping with you!
Oh so good and so refreshing. Such a great tea.
What a fun story behind the Arnold Palmer! I had no idea that’s how it started! Sounds delicious though… How nice that you have a screened in porch. I would love to be able to sit outside in the summer without being bitten up!
Shelley
Before we got it screened in I would have to bathe in Off. I am enjoying our porch and time spent out there. So nice hopping with you Shelley!
Wow, an Arnold Palmer does look so refreshing. So happy to have the recipe. We will enjoy many of these on the patio this summer!
I sure hope you like them. They are refreshing for sure. They hit the spot when you are hot. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.
This looks so refreshing, Terrie! Happy to be joining you for the tea party this week! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction
It was so fun doing the tea hop with you Cecilia. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend!
Nothing better for a refreshing afternoon drink than a tea and lemonade mix. Sitting on the porch is a habit I’m looking forward to cultivating soon. Until this last move we’ve not had the right outdoor space to relax and enjoy some quiet. Pollen has been horrible here in SW Missouri, I think we’re about past it, but it’s been a real mess.
I am thinking the pollen is about through here too. Will try to clean the porch up this weekend. Then get pampered on Sunday. Hope you have a Happy Mother’s Day.
Your porch looks like such a nice place to relax with your husband. The pollen has been thick around here. I think it’s safe for me to do some porch cleaning, I’m just dreading doing it. My friend always orders an Arnold Palmer when we go out to lunch. Now I know what’s in it!
I am hoping to clean our porches up this weekend. I had to look it up when I first heard about them. They can be very sweet if you don’t use unsweatened tea. Have a great Mother’s Day Paula.
I had no idea that’s what an Arnold Palmer is. It looks refreshing! I’m off to see your porch reveal.
It is a perfect drink for people that love lemon tea. Thank you for stopping by. Hope you have a great Monday. Love hopping with you.
I never knew what an Arnold Palmer was but goodness me it sounds delish! Now I need to head to the store and get some lemonade! Thanks for sharing that.
It is very good and hits the spot. You can do a John Daly and add some alcohol to it. 🙂
My #3 son loves Arnie Palmer’s, but I think he likes his with sweet tea. I like your unsweetened version! Relaxing on the screen porch without bugs sounds wonderful; #goals;)
It really is nice sitting out there without having to spray off on us. 🙂 Have a wonderful day Lora! Thanks for stopping by.
Terrie sitting on your porch swing sipping this tea sounds wonderful. I hear you about pollen. NJ is in the height of pollen right now. Soon this will pass and my lilacs will burst any day if we get much needed sun.
Enjoy the start to your week
Cindy
I can’t wait until I can clean the whole porch off and enjoy sitting out there without getting coated with pollen. I think it is about over for us. Thanks for stopping by. Love hopping with you!
Oh boy that Arnold Palmer looks SO good! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Anytime Laura. Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day this weekend!
