I changed up my painted faux shiplap with shiplap-like boards made from plywood underlayment. Follow along as I give the brick around my fireplace a fresh new look. The change I am making to the brick is using color and texture paint.

Tammy, Patina and Paint will be joining me as we Decorate our Family room for every day. I will have her DIY project below at the end of my page.
Fireplace Makeover with Texture Paint
This is the fireplace as it stands today.
Prep Work
I started out by sanding the white painted brick with 80 grit sandpaper.
Apply Color
Wiped it all down and gave it one coat of Behr Liquid Mercury.
Apply Texture
After the liquid mercury paint dried, I added Homax roll-on textured.
I applied the texture with an old paint brush. I applied the texture in an 8″x 8″ square.
Using a wallpaper smoother, I scrapped off the texture as much as possible.
Here is the finale look of the fireplace. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with my fireplace project. I love the look of the new and improved fireplace.
